Yeah I thought it was pretty cool recently an astronaut needed a specific wrench on the space station and NASA emailed the schematic for him to just print it out.

Now if we can just get the stem cell tech to make 100 the new 60.

Additive manufacturing is pretty neat. Actually something I've written a paper on specifically on metal AM considering it's a big deal at my college. There is a lot of potential and could here soon be a big player in manufacturing due to it being intrinsically 3D rather than 2D compared to traditional methods such as machining. It also has the ability to make more intricate parts with higher precious down to the nano scale where tooling and forging aren't as capable.

You can also do AM with a robot welder. We did quite a bit in my Robotic welding lab. Here is a pencil holder I made.
