Jeep TJ 'V' Brace Behind Grill

Does anyone know if the V shaped brace behind the grill on a Jeep TJ is needed, and if so what exactly it's bracing? It's making the location of a tranny cooler a pain to fit in there. I Googled it up and didn't really find anything, thought maybe someone here might be running without one or knows if that brace is essential.

its part of the grill structure. part of the bracing for the front clip.
cant say running with out it will affect anything but i bet the front get floppy

Thanks, I finally figured another way to get it in there. Had to move the air temp sensor to get some extra room and ended up mounting the cooler to the V brace itself.
