I think the video does not reflect what the trail was like, but hopefully it gives you some idea.

Looks like fun! I can't wait to be back, I'll be in Moab in a couple weeks, Elephant Hill, Beef Basin, Henry Mountains. I can hardly wait!

Yep, that is the Maze! Can't believe the amount of water that was on the ground!

That trip is really more expedition style than challenging wheeling. The biggest challenge is preperation and packing. The scenery is incredible and makes the trip worth the while for sure. Hope you enjoyed it!

Uhh, yeah, the prep work was HUGE! :D Making sure I could bring everything I needed to bring. Too bad one of my gas tanks and one of my water tanks leaked. I caught the water tank before leaving CO and noted the gas tank at Hans Flat Ranger station. Too late. All the work and packing, and I ended up being deficient on some of the basics.

Almost an inch of rain. Wait until I put up the water shots.

I need to post pics of the last time I was there 3 years ago. Will have to scan the 35mm pics. At least 1" of rain overnight and then 2-3" of hail as soon as we left!

Leaking tanks SUCKS! Do you use the red cans or the NATO cans? Only had 1 NATO can ever "weep" on me. The red fuel cans basically suck. Never had a water can leak. At least you caught that early. Simply can't make that trip without taking in water!

The leaking gas can, which was disposed of, was one in my garage from somewhere, the one that did not leak was the Biltz red plastic can. I have a five gallon and a 2.5 gallon from them, neither leaked. I decided to take the two 2.5 cans, error error error.

Still working on my pictures, there are about 200 to sort through. I'd like to see yours too.

Our first time there I had about 5 5gallon cans. I was driving my Patrol which only had about a 12 gallon tank and got miserable mileage. The good news is that fuel wasn't in the cans long as the Patrol burned right through it. I had a couple Blitz metal cans and a couple plastic cans. The Blitz metal cans are POS. They never seal right. The Blitz plastic cans work pretty well, but I really hate using them. I do use a Blitz plastic fuel jug that has been very reliable.

I think I have about 8 NATO cans. They are a good heavy steel. They were designed to be laid on their sides in the storage racks under the Unimog and Pinzgauer vehicles, so they had to be leak proof. There is no way that I would go back to using any other gas cans after these!

Hopefully for our next Maze trip I will have my 2nd tank installed in the 4Runner. I think it adds 10 more gallons. 4Runner gets about 20mpg loaded. The factory 15 plus the addtional 10 will have me in the 500 mile range. MORE than enough fuel to go wherever I want and a safe way to do it!
