My current set are Nitto Trail Grapplers that are probably at about 40% tread on a couple. These are also 35X12.5-17 on 17” rims. They do awesome on dry rocks but have been a bit slippery on the snow and ice since the tread is getting low.

So I just ordered some 15”x8” steel wheels and the new BF Goodrich KM3 mt in the 35X12.50-15 so it will have an inch larger sidewall for more cushion for airing down! Having them delivered mounted and balanced so I can just put them on the Jeep in my driveway! Can’t wait to have some GRIP!

:thumb: I'm interested to see if you feel a difference with the larger sidewall.

I'm interested to see if I feel a difference also, and I think I will. The 17" rims with 35's is more low profile than I'd like.... I air down to 8psi sometimes and have been a little worried about pinching the tire between a rock and the rim and I think 15" rims will give a lot more rubber cushion. This hopefully will also help me bump over things better also! Not to mention brand new tread so I shouldn't slip and slide around as much as I do on my Trail Grapplers.

Then I'll still have a decent backup set in the 17's should anything happen. These grapplers certainly have been durable for the 8 months I've been pounding on them..... hope the KM3 is just as durable!

I like the looks of the KM3 tread pattern - looks a bit better all around than the previous KM2s I currently have. I like the sidewall as well - especially when airing down to 7 psi like I do, it puts some abuse on the sidewall. I runn 33s on 15" rim. Let us know how they work out.

I can’t wait for them to arrive & I will definitely let you know my thoughts. I paid about $1100 for 4 wheels and tires - if I would have just gotten 4 35X12.50-17 tires it would have cost me $1500. Crazy how much cheaper 15” tires are.....about $100 cheaper PER TIRE!

I think you'll like the 15" wheels with 35s. That's the combination I've preferred for many years. Even 37s seemed to work better for me on a 15" wheel.

Nice choice Matt, mine arrived yesterday of course I ordered 315 75r16 which is close to a 35 x 12.5. It’s going to be a minute before I’m running them though, quite a bit of work to squeeze those under a Tacoma;)

Km3’s, yeah I want to go 37’s because of my long wheelbase but it’s going to be awhile before I can do that. I’m regearing to 5.29’s in preparation though. So some day

I’m going to put 37’s on my 17” rims next ;)

Showed up today and I swapped out the Grapplers for the KM3’s today. Haven’t really been able to test them yet but install went fine except the center caps I ordered were not correct so I had to reuse the ones I have.... needed to pound them all the way on. The tires are a little taller due to brand new tread but significantly narrower than the Grapplers.... which I was hoping for! I took a few pics after running around the property a little to make sure they felt good. Definitely feel softer than the E rated Grapplers, and I like it! They do not rub at full lock, unlike the Grapplers that did.... another reason why I was hoping they were narrower (plus the offset is better too).

took a few pics comparing old and new - all in all most people wouldn’t notice any difference but I’m stoked and can’t wait to take these out this weekend! Plus I like the bigger sidewall look also!

Nice - I am partial to taller and skinnier tires anyway.

Yea me too! I've always liked the pizza cutters! The tread in the closeup on the Grappler is probably 40% or less so I'm happy to have big blocks of fresh rubber at least for a little while! I will only drive to trails so hopefully the tread lasts pretty long. Driving on the highway around curves definitely felt less stable with the C rated KM3's being much less stiff than the E rated Trail Grapplers..... but again, this Jeep is for trail use only so the softer ride on rough roads is VERY noticeable and appreciated!

Hey Chris, I love them! I wrote up a little first impression review in General tech section last night. They are quite narrow compared to most 35X12.5 tires (at least an inch narrower than my Trail Grapplers). This probably helps make them lighter also, which is great because these are about 14lbs lighter per tire than the Trail Grapplers.
I also love the softer ride (C rated vs E rated).
They made me feel like I was gripping the snow and ice, and they did everything I had hoped they would (and why I bought them because my Trail Grapplers were disappointing in the snow and ice).

Awesome! Mine are E rated and look pretty wide but that’s comparing to a 285 lol. I’m glad you like them and thanks for the review.

What is their overall height? If I recall the km2 tires always ran quite a bit smaller than advertised.
