The more I think about it...for a pure recreational 4wd rig, all electric seems pretty good. I could see towing an electric jeep to Moab and running trails with it, or if you lived in an area where OHV parks were common. Since the goal is not to go from point A to B, but rather drive 4wd trails for pure fun and recreation and coming back to the same starting spot....the all electric has some appeal. Have to charge it back up each night, but it would cut back on fuel use, emissions, noise etc...and I think electric motors can provide some serious torque for wheeling big tires etc....Of course, it becomes more of a trailer rig then unless the range gets really large, and probably not an overlanding rig, but seems like there is a possible entry for such uses. But for our uses here in colo the new JL rubicon that Udi had with the turbo 4cyl that can run lots of trails and still get 30mph on the road seems pretty sweet though.

I would love to have an electric rig with portal axles and a motor at each wheel.
