Anyone interested in a snow bashing run on Yankee Hill? I've got a couple other people who are interested from other groups. Tentatively planning to meetup at the Conoco in Idaho Springs at 830 and head for the trail-head at 9. Also tentative on snowfall over the next couple days.

I may be, depending how the snow turns out. I've been crossing my fingers for snow, but it's only been a 3-4 inches at my place so far.

Make sure you start from Central City side of the trail, not the Alice side. I did Yankee last weekend and it was relatively snow free and we made it easily all the way to the top of the actual Yankee hill. I’m sure this weekend there will be a lot more snow! We got about 6” on Tuesday and are expected to get a lot more over the next few days. So it should definitely be snow bashing ;)

Looks like we'll see some good snow. If Yankee is too deep we can always check out oh my god, barbour forks, etc.
I'm on 35's, winch, locker, strap, snatch block, and have some knock off maxtrax coming tomorrow. Got one other guy from another group who is most likely in but the more rigs the better.
I'm all for getting stuck, just don't want to be stuck all day. We'll see how much snow this storm dumps, it already started in Broomfield.

I'm in a stock f150, but interested if you're willing to wait for me to get chains on at trailhead. ;)

Absolutely don't mind waiting. We can convoy together, I'm in Broomfield as well. Forecast is only calling for 3-5 inches of snow today at Idaho Springs, hoping we don't get snowed out.

I'm gonna call this one off. With the I70 closures today and more snow coming Sunday evening I'd hate to get stuck coming down.

Dude with the ok amount of snow (6-8” maybe) that’s fallen it should be a blast! I wouldn’t call it off —— and I know JAB is planning on going also.
I’d go if I hadn’t gone for the last 8 weekends straight .... I have stuff to fix so and have to take a weekend off but I’ll be back out next weekend :-)

yeah, you might want to call it off. 35s and lockers is not going to get you far...

that's my driveway from about 4 hours ago. we've gotten more since.

33's and my v8 are basically zero match for the 22" we've gotten. and Yankee ALWAYS gets more than I do.
for reference, I live about 8 minutes from Yankee Hill, just to the north East.

Pfft - they'll be FINE ;) It looks like you have 35 inches of snow on the car. They have 35" tires - golden, no??? :D
SOMEBODY's going to have to make first tracks...

Is there a better place to try farther North? Like, Bunce, Sugarloaf, Gordon's Gulch?

seems like north got less. I know Ned didn't get anywhere near this much. maybe 10-12" up there. so yeah, Bunce might be better. I'm sitting around 26" right now, so I'm assuming Yankee has more than 30" easy.

I70 was closed all day from Golden to Eisenhower. We could make it up before the snow on Sunday but I don't want to sit all night on I70 trying to get home.

Yes, I’m about 5 miles north of Bunce and we only got 6-8”. Holy crap Jason, that’s what I wanted here at my place!!

Hwy 6 was also closed for a good amount of the day for all the crashes. it's a mess up here, haha.

The avalanche danger is pretty high. I would bet on occasional highway closures today.

Just a little north, I’m a few miles north of Bunce at 8500 feet elevation and we didn’t get close to that much snow. We did get 6-8” and it’s blowing like crazy today but it’s amazing how much more y’all got just 50-60 miles south.
Heres my morning picture, snowy but nothing like those of you near I70

I can't make it this weekend. Had my rig at the shop getting new shocks installed but they didn't get it done yet.

Eldora snow cam was stacked out of the video frame yesterday at noon. They only reported 13", but there was a solid 17+ on the cam by mid day. Wouldn't count on Ned getting "light" snow.

Eldora sits a good bit above Ned and always gets more snow than in town. I was specifically referring to Nederland, not Eldora. and yes, I confirmed with my wife who currently lives in Ned that they didn't get more than 10".

Here in Alice, we got 3' Friday, and 2' into sat morn. Pretty good ice flows under the snow too, around Yankee so be wary. We need this s***. :)

Wound up running Switzerland on Saturday, no issues there and only about 12" of snow. Headed over to Ironclads/Bunce after that. Couldn't make it up Ironclads it was so slick, but neither could the side-by-sides so I didn't feel too defeated. Turned around and ran 1/3 of Bunce but wound up separating my front drive shaft 3x because it doesn't have near enough travel. I just had it custom made too < 2 weeks ago.. reached out to the shop, hopefully they make good on it.

I only cruised the first part of Bunce and Ironclads and it was fun with about a foot of powder.... it’s still snowing lightly but I don’t think we got much more than a foot or so around here .... but it sure is nice to have a decent snow finally, I mean it is winter ;)

Did you get all the way through Ironclads? It was slicker than snot on a doorknob for us on Saturday.

I did not do all of Ironclads, I just went up to the first rock-playground area before it gets a lot steeper. It was 6pm-ish and I was by myself and the snow was pretty deep in areas so I didn't want to get in trouble!
