I have the itch to check out the no-winter-maintenance county roads north of Red Feather Lakes.

Colo rescue was up there recently. Jump a couple minutes into the vid for an idea:

Bottom line, I don't know what to expect. There are several roads up there. I've been on many of them in the summertime and am curious to see what they'd be like now.

Anyone interested?

My interest is piqued.. that's a weekend long trip for me though, were you thinking the same?

Dates / Times to be discussed. Likely a Saturday or Sunday. I could do a weekday with enough advanced schedule. Saturday is my pref.

You know where Red Feather is - you were right there on the way back from Sevenmile.

I'd likely stay on highway 287 to 80C, a clean gravel road (40/50MPH), to the turn where 80C transitions into No-Winter-Maint at this location - to get there quick.

My club goes up there in the winter all the time, we ran Prairie Divide Road just this past Sunday. I didn't go so I don't know the specifics but our trip planners ran it the weekend before and found some 4' high drifts.

Club members also extracted the couples truck that was rescued from the area a few weeks ago.

Re: Prairie Divide - When I traveled (in the car) 80C a few Sundays ago I came to the intersection of it. I considered turning onto it just to see what it was like.

The stuck couple story is the article that stirred my mind to see what things are like up there in the winter.
