I’ve never done Chinaman and I want to. With all this crazy **** going on, let’s go wheelin. I’m not concerned about any lock down or anything, and I’m keeping distances by staying in my Jeep. Anyone else interested in Chinaman??

This trail looks like so much fun! Wish my wife would be up for camping up there & unfortunately there are no nice hotels to keep her happy. The trailhead is 3.5 hour drive for me which is the same as Gulches..... a long day trip for sure but with all the time on our hands it might be a good trail to plan during the week.

IIRC, this might be one of James' favorites...

This is closed now, but it's near Chinaman Gulch and is pretty nice, especially the new construction https://mtprinceton.com/

It is one of my favorites! Not sure how interested I truly am at the moment....Even though I went skiing yesterday, I am starting to think the social responsibility to not travel and minimize potential transmission of C19 is important to me. If the state or fed gov't issued a 'shelter in place' restriction, I would probably be out and follow it. At the same time, going for a scenic drive and easy wheeling trip seems like a pretty minimal concern. But I wouldn't put Chinaman's in the easy category, and the potential for complications like a broken jeep might be more than I want to deal with, and having to deal with towing a vehicle out and getting it home would probably require more social interaction than I would like. At the same time, I am thinking of taking some sort of scenic easy drive or 4wd trip with just my wife and I - probably take the Tacoma even. On a personal note, I need to continue to visit and help my 82 year old father who has respiratory issues (he is also scheduled for heart surgery in a couple weeks - but that is a bit uncertain) and I worry about causing him a much worse situation. He has a good NYC sense of humor - at one of the pre-op tests on Wed he got a needed go ahead with the surgery, he then told the doctors that it would be a real shame and waste of their time if he made it through the heart operation only to die from C19. A friend of mine down in the Springs just took his 75 year old mother taken to the ER with severe respiratory issues (prelim diagnosis is pneumonia - most likely associated with C19). Hate to say it, but it doesn't look good - hoping for the best. Both of my parents are 77+, both with health issues. Can't do much about my mother - she is in lockdown at a residential care facility - so no visits etc for the last 1.5 weeks. Hoping to get some video conferencing set-up but its hard when most of that generation does not have smart phones etc.

Hope you and your son are doing well JP
