Curious as to what everyone does for bear safety at camp for food storage and overall safety.

I always backpacked with dehydrated food. Cooking site alway apprx 100' from tents.

Only ever had one incident. It was when I was returning from a grand teton trip with teenagers I was leading. Car camped near w yellowstone. I had a bad headache and went to be early after telling everyone to make certain all food was locked in the car. Woke up in the middle of the night to find a black bear munching a loaf of bread 3' from my tent. The van doors were wide open.

If a remote site little concern. If a well used campground with smells and trash more of a concern. Get a rope and pull the food 20-30' in the air at a distance about 100 ' from sleeping area. Also don't sleep with cooking or eating clothes in tent.

Ammonia guys, ammonia. Pour a ring around your site, leave open bottle by the food. I have to store trash up here, in a little trailer, the bears got in once. A neighbor told me this advice, I repeatedly apply ammonia in the trailer and around it. Going on 5 years the bears have not returned to my trailer. But they are there;)
