Fun day, great to be out. We found a lot more snow and ice than anticipated; I got there a little early and drove to Bald Mtn Gulch and it was packed snow / ice quite a way in, very slippery. The end section has a small shelf area with rocks going downhill that might have been a bit much so we changed the run to just the north of 285 trails. The weather was perfect and the trails were snowy, but no issues. We spent more time hanging out and talking than driving, with masks and distancing, primarily at a campsite off 376 and ath 375C The Sailor Homestead. Thank you to everyone who came out, it was a great last run of the year. :thumb: I got mostly bad pics, here's some of the less offensive:

We had a great time. Alison asked me to specifically thank you for organizing this run, Paul. She really enjoyed the area and the kids appreciated getting out of the house to do something.

I ended the day by changing a tire. As I was airing up I noticed a chunk of rubber missing and a small hairline crack in the sidewall of my passenger rear tire. I don't think either of these could have been from the run yesterday. I'd guess the week of wheeling we did back in September on the big Moab trip probably caused the damage, but who knows. I'll get a picture later and post for opinions, but I chose not to drive home on it since I had a spare I could swap in place of it.

There's a chunk of rubber missing near the barcode, and a cut in the sidewall to the right (or above) the barcode. Since I bought warranty certificates for these when I purchased the tires, I plan to take it back to Discount Tire and see what they will be able to do to replace this tire for me. Does anyone here think this is safe and I'm just overreacting?

Trent....from what I see in the pic I wouldn't be worried about it. Certainly if you are able, it would be a great spare, but I'd have no hesitation running it, it's probably better than all 5 tires on my cj.

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve had a slice in my Cooper’s sidewalls for a couple of years now.

I keep any eye on it. It doesn’t leak and hasn’t enlarged so...

If you bought the warranty I would definitely take it in, that's why you buy it. And it's no hair off their chest as only a very small % of people ever tap into all of the $$$$$ they take in on those warranties.
