Ball Joints

Well the time has come to replace my ball joints. Does anyone have any DIY experience or tips? I'm torn between attempting to do myself or shelling out the money and take it in. The idea of messing around with the axle and such makes me a bit nervous.

It's not necessarily difficult. But it can be time consuming. You should buy/rent a ball joint press to do it right. Also, coating pieces with anti-seize as they go back together will make future maintenance much easier.

Are you looking to just replace with stock or upgrade?

I've done ball joints several times. But I still sometimes just drop it off and let someone else do it for me.

When I did mine, '07 JKUR, the only issue was getting the passenger side axle shaft back in. I ended up damaging the diff seal causing a leak. I then took it to a shop for the diff seal as I didn't want to mess with a diff with a locker.
