Heard a rumor that the fs said the gates will be opened on the 15th. Anyone interested in running it on the 17th or 18th if they are opened?

Always interested in Kingston. I also learned last weekend that we can get there via Mammoth Gulch. Did not realize this before last week.

Mammoth gulch is my go to route. We'd meet in Rollinsville and head up through Mammoth.

What day is better for everyone. I am leaning the 18th thinking that a lot of people may go for the 17th since it will have just opened, but maybe both days will be busy.

It seems Ty and Tom need to update their profile photos to show Top of the World. The other 3 yes folks for Kingston Peak have done so already.

In order to do that I would need to make to the top of Top of the World. :D:lmao:

I made a fun change so that Tom might have a good selection - for how he would want to pose or park the jeep (park the jeep close to the right side near the point). Also, a late afternoon is better for lighting - no clouds a bonus.

I really hate heights, those pictures always make me wonder if I will go for it when I get out to MOAB

Just back up to it. That way you can get the shot but still be 20’ from the edge. Make that wheelbase work for you.

That way you can get the shot but still be 20’ from the edge.
And the heavy engine wouldn't be on the overhang.
For my (first / only??) visit, I parked 20' away and walked out with a peanut container and set it down where I was comfortable placing the front tire and low range at idle crept up to it - and you can see that I could have gone farther out.
If I really wanted to get close, I'd pull & ground the coil wire and stand outside the jeep while starter motoring it closer to the edge.
Also, from where one might drive straight out, next time I'd veer a bit right for a better photo (true flat side profile).
