I had heard about these years ago. Really an ingenious idea! 50% or so increase in MPG and no need for a cooling system!

This was apparently first patented in 1880's or something. Unsure why it wasn't pursued. Maybe just not the tech at the time and no need for fuel economy. Doesn't provide any additional HP or torque.

In addition to conserving fuel, the parts under the hood won't emit so much heat. Great for stop/go traffic (ever seen those heat waves?!). Bad for cooking burgers on the manifold!

Unsure why it wasn't pursued.

The same reason the hydrogen cars(run on tap water) that Daniel Dingle were invented in 1969 haven't been.
