Seeing if anyone might be interested in a mid-week next week, maybe either Wed 9/22 or 9/23? I could also do Tues or Fri, but Wed and Thurs are preferred. I am pretty open to different trail options...could be on the harder end like Holy Cross or Chinamans or even Mt Blanca, but its probably got to be a long day run, not overnight - but mid-week lack of crowds would be nice. Halfmoon Creek is also on my bucket list, or even Wheeler Lake and maybe the east side of Mosquito? I recognize some of these are not super close to the front range - especially northerners - so open to suggestions as well. Red Elephant/Mill Creek/Bill Moore or even the Gulches could be options...
cheers

Hmmm. Never done Red Elephant and enjoy Bill Moore and the hilton. Not much in for the further/more difficult trails. Let me give it some thought.

Much sounds good - though I _really_ should change my front springs.

I have a spring compressor if you need to borrow one Jim. Or just swing by my place sometime and we can knock them out in an hour.

You get new shackles? Also, I've been known to drive a jeep with leaf springs - be happy to help as well. I am busy through Monday with Jen in the mts, but can come for a day. If you have new ubolts ready to go, then its pretty simple (and yes, i do strongly recommend replacing your u-bolts, but the final call is yours). Adding greasable spring hanger bolts? I am really thinking about ordering some of those 4" shackles from rough stuff industries to put on the cj, and the move the ones on the cj to the 58...If you were still looking at the boomerang ones for the rear, maybe it would save some shipping to order together...
and yes, at some point this thread was about looking to go wheeling, but in reality, we all know that we are really all about wrenching. As the old saying goes, are we jeepers with a wrenching problem, or are we wrenchers with a jeeping problem.

New U-Bolts - yep.
Greasable bolts / bushnigs - yep.
I have a full set for the front springs - but I have boomerang shackles I'll be adding to the rear - I should order the greasable bushings & bolts for those now.
Thx for the offer. I don't think I need a hand just yet - I just need to get ME moving.
Let's see what happens Sunday... Maybe I'll be up for mid-week wheeling.
Wheeler Lake / Mosquito is interesting.
What info on Halfmoon Creek do you have?

Shows closed for the season. Looks interesting.

This would be something I would normally get on board with since my days off are Mon, Tues and Wednesday but I am camping this week.

Somewhat - you could talk me into it if you really wish to get out.
1) I've not changed springs - so there's that (a firm no to Holy Cross - I don't want 3 for 3 mechanical issues there)
2) Wx looks cool enough I'll put the top on
3) It'd be nice to run Wheeler and perhaps Mosquito through Red Elephant etc are about an hour+ closer
4) I'd be looking to head south after the morning rush - getting to Denver perhaps 9:30a???
Wed / Thu - the better Wx day is a pref but as temps for Georgetown show a high of 60F - That puts me into the "top on" world and thus I don't care much about temps or rain.

Not really looking to tallk anyone into it, but thanks...I might just take the jeep for an extended scenic cruise when running a couple errands this week. The fall colors west of the divide were really kicking in this past weekend, but seems like the east slope is another couple weeks away maybe. As we will be on trail on Sat for the clean-up, and then heading to Moab for a week of wheeling first week of Oct, I will be getting a lot of seat time and I really do need to spend as much time building the 58 as I can over the next month or so.

Got done working on my truck ahead of schedule, complete opposite of what usually happens...I'd be up for a moderate trail tomorrow 9/23
Was already thinking about running Kinston Peak or Barbour Forks (I work weekends or I'd be there for the cleanup run)
