Hi all, I'm planning on going Wheeling on Tuesday December 21st. I'm open about locations, I live in Denver so I can get north south or west pretty easy.
Thinking about going down towards Colorado springs area or up north of Boulder by the Ward area. I can get an early start so if anybody's interested, let me know.

Put me in as a solid maybe / likely. I'd be more interested for Central City / Boulder / Ward.
If you wish something down south - go for it - I'm not overly set on getting out (might not head down there) - plan what you want first.
EDIT: Would you wish to join me for some chain saw tree clearing on Miner's Gulch? I'm guessing one to two hours to clear it (cut and winch) and then visit some area trails.

I'm up for Miner's Gulch. I can bring a saw, but no winch (yet). Sounds great. Meet in West Denver/Golden area? I am thinking around 730/8am? I am open so let me know.

For me it's a two hour drive to the trailhead... 9a or 10a @ the intersection of Apex Valley Road & CO-119?

That's an hour drive for me. I can be there @ 9 if you're good with that.
Btw, I don't have a CB, but I was going to pick up a grms radio tomorrow. Will that work or should I get a CB?

I can make 9a work.
Don't worry about any radio. They are a convenience (most certainly) but are not a requirement.
Trail rule applies: Everyone is responsible for the whereabouts of the person BEHIND. If a person behind stops, the people up front stop, wait a minute or two, and if no person behind appears - turn around to check on them.
CB is common but getting less so. FRS / GMRS are gaining popularity. I just chose the GMRS route but have not installed it yet (and likely won't have it ready by Tuesday). I have a couple FRS/GMRS handhelds that I can bring (one for you). HAM is another option. I believe there are a handful of ham's - Tom being the most common.

So, some planning...
What say, we get to the tree location and it has already been removed (or what to do after tree removal). Do the two of you wish to run Miner's Gulch? I'd think likely not with the nice paint and body panels you have (paint that is but 9 months fresh). What would be a good 'next' trail to visit? Yankee Hill? Dakota Hill (never been)? Pickle Gulch might be more than you might wish to tackle (if open). Kingston Peak is listed open in one district and closed in another - don't know what to think of that.

I was up at Yankee Hill last Thursday and it was generally clear coming up from york gulch, but we did have some problems with ice in different areas, especially the roads west of Rollinsville. I think there will be plenty of options up there that hopefully won't remove too much paint

I ran Miners gulch with the green Jeep a few months ago, no paint issues at all. It had a couple areas that me and Shane were locked up and still had to give it a few attempts but we made it. In other words, it ain’t an easy trail but it’s fun and quite bumpy.
All of those trails are in the same general area so some fun can be had for sure. I haven’t run Pickle in a couple years, always a good time except when it’s icy and snowy 🤣

Don't take the trail Shane and I took if you're worried about paint lol. Was very narrow and very pin-stripey.
Hey JLWillys I had a cb installed for a few years and so few people were using it this year I ended up ripping mine out and tossing it for the now very popular GMRS

I will probably pick up a GMRS from the Amazon. I will bring my FRS radio for tomorrow.
I was able to buff out most of the pin stripes I did, but it's a Jeep. As long as they are on the driver side, wife won't notice :) Can't wait to see what she says when I bring it home with a dent.
Looking forward to it.

Make sure you tear off a fender when you get that first dent. That’s what I did.

Fortunately this isn't my first Jeep, so I'm not unfamiliar with pinstriping and body damage. However, this is the first Jeep I've owned with my wife and it will be her first experience with pinstriping and body damage
