First four minutes of the vid - a couple sets of old shackle plates to use as a band-aid / patch to hold a broken spring together to get off of the trail.

Ratchet straps and an old log were the perfect items for that (all-too-memorable) day! Heh!

Carrying a couple old shackle plates and bolts could be a more compact option.

Tie down straps and an old log were how I braced my knee to hike out of the trail when tearing my ACL mountain biking up near Vancouver, BC. Definitely good enough for me.

I carry a short piece of strong chain and a couple of bolts with washers and nuts that fit through the links. Anything you can wrap the chain around you can clamp down, you can also fudge a link with it to get off the trail.

in 2012 there was a series called One Car Too Far where two guys were dropped into a forest with a Jeep and had to get out. They broke the D35 and used a tree in Episode 2. Wish I could find this in higher resolution...
