View Full Version : Camp Hale, Shrine Pass, & …. July-Aug

My father and grandfather were on the construction crews that built Camp Hale. On weekends my father would drive to Denver over Shrine pass to see my mother. I have never driven it and would like to this summer if possible.

Shrine pass is easy but there is a more difficult trail out of Camp Hale that connects back to it. I am thinking of the loop in pale blue on the attached map. The 708.1 portion is McAllister Gulch.

Anyone have any interest?

I would be interested, most likely in August as July is pretty filled up right now.

After watching that it appears my loop will not work. McAllister no longer connects back to shrine. A loop could be made of McAllister and Ptarmigan.

I would like to go! Lot of snow on Shrine Pass. Tried to drive it end of June and it was still closed. Known for it's beautiful views and wildflowers. Keep me posted!!

Mike :)

I'd be interested too - July's booked with family (why, aside from radiator issue, I'm quiet these days).

Looking like the latter 1/2 of Aug. Could do an intro run earlier in Aug.

Anyone interested in doing this the weekend of Aug 19-20, or Sunday Aug 27. Could also do sat/sun Sept 2-3.

What works for people. Or is no one interested.

I am still interested and can definitely do 8/19 or 8/20, would be a maybe for the 27th, and not available 9/2 or 9/3. If there is time I would probably extend and do Peak 10 again since it should be fully open at that time and is in the area, if anyone had interest in that.

I am interested in this one. Any of the Aug or Sep dates work for me at this point.

So far my schedule is clear for 8/19 and 20, I can probably keep it that way. Peak 10 sounds like fun too. :thumb:

Leaning toward the 19th at the moment based upon current feedback with a meetup at 10am at the summit of Vail Pass, Shrine Pass turn off.

Thanks all. You are getting me excited.
