Hello everyone. I would like to start planning our 1st Adopt-a-Trail cleanup run for 2023. We typically target this one for one of the weekends after independence day so we can be sure to get any trash generated during the holiday week/weekend as well as things that have accumulated over the spring

For any new members or anyone who has not participated in a cleanup run before: we have two trail runs each year where we volunteer for the USFS and pick up trail trash. Our adopted trails are Barbour Fork and Devil's Canyon, both close to Idaho Springs. We split into two groups and run/clean both trails simultaneously. It's a great opportunity to give back a little, to be good stewards of the off-road community, and to meet/chat with other forum members as we spend a bit more time outside of our vehicles compared to a typical run.

Please fill out the poll and let us know what weekends you may be available. This poll is just a gauge of interest so we can coordinate a weekend with the USFS to maximize participation. Please check any and all dates where you believe you will be free to join us. I will provide the Forest Service with our top 3 results at the end of this week and once we settle on a date I will add a planned trail run to the calendar.

Thank you.

I am in. Any day.

Its also a great time for newbies to meet the group and run some well know not too difficult trails.

I haven't voted because I work weekends but can take off as needed if things aren't too busy so I'll try to make whatever date you pick work. I'd prefer Barbour Fork but either trail is OK. I was surprised how much more fun Devil's Canyon had become last time I was there, it's no longer IMO an easy trail, more of a moderate. Great campsites and views there too. :thumb:

I saw a post on Facebook that TrailsOffroad ran Barbour Fork with the FS to clear trees and open it. Made it seem like they were now adopting it and Devil's Canyon.

Curious.

Trevor, could you contact the FS rep for clarification?

I looked on their FB page and only found this, looks like they were just pitching in. Kudos for that! I also saw on their page that the new 2024 Wranglers come with a full floating rear axle and a built in TOR screen on the display. :thumb:

They reached out in march and I filled out the volunteer agreement for 2023. I also sent them an email last Sunday when I posted this poll to let them know we were picking dates. I haven't heard back though. I'll reach out again as planned on Sunday/Monday morning.

New to the forum and would be interested in joining a trail run/clean up event like this.

Trevor,

When do you think of posting the run? Once I see it listed I'll send out a notice to the membership.

Still trying to connect with the forest service. I've sent a few email that have gone unanswered. I'm outbof town at the moment, but I'm gonna try to get these folks on the phone and figure out whats up.

I just caught him coming back from 10 days of leave.... which is why we've had issues getting in touch. He mentioned that the work on these trails earlier in the year was two folks who said thay were with our group.
