We talked about this as a use of our funds from the Bronco II but since we didn't scrap the majority of it we didn't generate the income. Better to see it re-used anyway.

So I'm putting this out to see if anyone would be interested so we could put in a bulk order with Gunnar (Lock, Stock & Vinyl) who's a sponsor of this site.

I'm asking Gunnar to check in to answer any questions, field any ideas, etc.

I think group shirts are a great idea and what better way to show our efforts. I can try and find a site that I saw once a while back that if a logo can be done, they can also put logo on cups, stickers and just about anything else we can think up. It is done like a store and one decides what they wnat and pay for it.

Cafe Press is good for low quantity and since we don't exactly have a bankroll may be the most sensible though most expensive too. I'll have to check for quantity orders.

Admin, do you have a certain font you use for "FR4x4"...or do we have a logo yet?

Pathrat
August 26th, 2008, 09:18 PM
This is very rudimentary, but if we don't have something what about a small logo along these lines?

I like our icon in the top left, of many of us on the trail we clean up. For T-shirts, are people looking for a 'generic' FR4x4 shirt or something specific? Looking for clues to bring out some ideas.

You should have a design contest.

Specify a time frame for entries, a few weeks to a month or so.

Let people enter front and back design. Decide if you want to allow multiple entries.

Set requirements for design. e.g must have fr4x4 logo incorporated, must be in good taste, no Land Rovers allowed, etc.

Choose a panel to judge (or post designs on forum and let everyone judge).

Choose most popular after a week or so of judging.

Winner gets a free shirt (or other prize). Alternatively, get a sponsor to provide nice prize in return for their logo included on shirt.

I like these ideas, I'd like to hear more. :thunb:

I have no artistic ability, get by with Photoshop so am more than interested in any and all suggestions.

A design contest would be great, does anyone have an artistic leaning?

Pathrat, I like the start you have. I like the photo on the top of the page because it shows the variety of trucks and was taken on a clean up but it's not really a logo. I use whatever font I like at the moment so I'm not tied to anything.

Looking forward to hearing from more people even if it's a yea or nay to anything already posted.

That's a good idea too, patches tend to get expensive since it's embroidery but since I've seen mall kiosks offering it maybe not so expensive when computer driven.

Anyone with a hint of creative juices is encouraged to give it a shot too.

I'm thinking Mike's approach may be the most sensible but before thinking of a contest I'd like to know there are some people interested in creating something.

Early members will recall I tried this a while ago and it didn't go anywhere.

Just thought I would throw this out there. I know someone that has a press to copy images onto shirts and all. I'll that is need is the logo and transfer paper. Print the logo on the paper and press it on. If thats something that you are thinking about we might beable to just do it ourselves.?

Getting people together in the same place at the same time? Hmmm, going to be tough. We could take group shots at each trail run, highest res possible, and maybe photochop the pictures?

I say logo design and website.
Maybe Forest service emblem? Ask for $$ from them?
Maybe a line type photo? Like this style?

Sign me up for at least one shirt!

When buying T-shirts, cost is dictated by placing an image on the front, back or both, the image size, and how many colors one uses. For example, the least expensive shirt would be a small black logo on the left breast. I've shopped for shirts before for parties. You can find a local T-shirt company that can do 50 or 100 for $6-8 per shirt. It may be a good idea to charge $15/shirt and keep the remaining money in a fund.

I would personally like to keep with a logo and not a photo, although a logo on the left breast and a photo on the back would be cool, but more costly. If we do a photo, it would be imperative to show a Toyota, Jeep, Nissan, Ford, Land Rover, and Chevy in the photo to demonstrate our non-discrimination policy.

I would like to participate in a logo design contest, but my design would be hand drawn. I like the idea of the winner receiving a free shirt. I'm envisioning the words "Front Range" being morphed to look like two off road vehicles climbing an escalating "4x4" image.

I would like to show my support for FR4x4 by displaying a window sticker. Where have members gotten these stickers?

Cool ideas, nice to hear ideas from those of you that know about this stuff, it's been 20+ years since I had t-shirts made.

Let's go with the contest concept originally mentioned by MikeM, free t-shirt to the winner. I agree that it's imperative to somehow display the variety of makes per our non-discrimination policy too.

I'm not sure which would work best so let's leave it wide open and see what everyone (I hope there are multiple members capable) comes up with.

Front Range 4x4 stickers are still available by PM to me. I don't have many left but you can try to specify a color and I'll see what I have - black, white or silver. I'll probably get more made after seeing what comes of this so that maybe the logo can be incorporated into the next run.

A little stolen is fine, Jim wouldn't mind I'm sure. His logo was a group effort and the final was actually cleaned up and embellished by my brother. Of course that looks like a Land cruiser club and we don't want to give anyone that idea. ;)

I would also like Front Range 4x4 to be spelled out and not abbreviated to FR4X4 even though http://fr4x4.com leads to the site. ;)

Chris, I am still trying to run mine through photoshop and have also handing it off to my daughter, who is very creative and proficient in photoshop. Not much will get done this weekend since we are going to Utah. But, here is the first shot.

I think if the person who did the ink 'drawing' of our rigs did that to the group photo, we should be able to do some overlay thing on photoshop. I will have to ask my daughter. This is her entry for a logo:
