Is anyone interested in Storm Mountain this weekend (Nov 4, 2023)? I'm looking more at Saturday but could be swayed for Sunday.
I'm looking for more than a quick to-the-lookout and back. I'm interested in checking out some of the trail either to the east or west.
Weather looks reasonable (mid 50's)!

FS says open.

I think this sounds like a good time! Put me down as highly probable.
I finally got my Jeep out of storage after 2 years and running well a couple weeks ago. Actually ran Golden Spike in Moab last weekend so the "shakedown" is done! LOL
I would vote for Sunday if possible but I can get the girl loaded up tonight if needed.

I could switch to Sunday. Temps should be slightly warmer.
Would 9:30am at Jax Loveland West work? (I could meet earlier - though a bit later would have warmer temps)

To be clear - the two interested in this run have not posted back - this is still in "Planning" and is not in "Planned". While a meet spot and time were proposed, it is only that - proposed. I highly doubt anything will firm up between now and early morning for a run to happen Saturday. Sunday is an option if folks with to jump in.

OK sorry for the delay. I was getting some repairs done and parts just showed up so looks like I am in business. I just need to load it on the trailer. It is a 2 hour drive for me to the proposed meetup spot in the morning. I have not heard of this trail and not much is available searching around but correct me if I am wrong. This is a moderate trail and is currently open? I found a lot of conversations around the internet about it being closed for most of this year. I would also like to know the actual difficulty before I go into it. Not that I am not equipped for it I just like knowing.

Well crud - the full eastern portion of Storm mountain is closed. The western portion is open.

If you have a two hour drive - let's re-think this.
The western portion, as I recall, gets tight in the trees (don't know if you're adverse to pinstripes).
If you wish to investigate the full western portion of Storm - I'm game. If we end up early we could hit Pierson Park North for another nearby in and out trail.
What's your thinking? I'm game / I'm flexible but if you have a drive that's on my mind. Miller Rock is always there.

Pinstripes dont bother me. I haven't done many of the trails here so I just wanted to get out and do some exploring now that I have my Jeep trail ready again. I am in Elizabeth but I tow so its not terrible, just long day if too far. As long as I can get home by a decent hour I am up for whatever.

Take a look at Miller Rock - if you wish a bit more difficulty (which, to me, trailered vehicles often are suited for) it's perhaps the most difficult of the up north trails.
Storm Mtn - the western trails - if you wish, I'm game. I'm just concerned with your drive.
I'll be watching the thread but in and out of the garage on some tasks.

OK. Miller doesn't look bad at all. Should be a good day. And it looks like its only about a 3 hour trip unless that report is one way.

if you know a good spot to unload and park we can meet there. Just send the coordinates. Can we do 10am?

As for time - later is fine by me - you name the time.
As for Miller Rock meeting spot, I propose these options:
1) Meet at the old U-Pump-It in Lyons (Now called Everyday gas). They have ample parking.
4065 Ute Hwy, Longmont, CO 80503

2) From there we'll drive to this air-down spot where you can leave the truck and trailer:

3) Trailhead
40.15844560499776, -105.4527765169635
Google Map (https://www.google.com/maps/place/40%C2%B009'30.4%22N+105%C2%B027'10.0%22W/@40.1584466,-105.4534216,179m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m4!3m3!8m2!3d40.1584456!4d-105.4527765?entry=ttu)
.
The gas station to trailer parking / air down is perhaps 25 minutes.
Meet at Lyons gas station at 10a? I'm flexible as to time. Home to Lyons is 45 minutes for me.
