I'm selling my "jeep camping" Starlink kit (purchased 6/29/2022). It includes the optional Ethernet adapter which allows for a wired network connection.

It works great, I'm just changing to the smaller "Mini" transceiver that fits the jeep's space better.

This standard kit works well for anything from house / business building mounted use to portable camping use. It auto-aligns for best satellite signal.

Any questions, just ask. I have used this for two seasons in the jeep. It's amazing how simple the setup & use is.

$300

Curious how the plans work on these - can you load up sort of "pay as you go" plans or weekly passes, for those that don't use it too often?

A month-to-month "pausable" plan is an option.

This "Standard" kit can use (from what I see at the Starlink.com web site) the Residential Standard plan or the Roam Mobile Regional plan.

The Residential Standard plan is intended to be active month-after-month at a $120/Month cost. It offers unlimited bandwidth. It is geofenced to the service address. I have a couple clients using this for their businesses.

The Roam Mobil plan is $150/month and can be on month-after-month but it can also be paused. It offers unlimited bandwidth. It is geofenced to the land mass of the United States. Essentially, I buy a month at a time (buying a month activates perpetual service so you have to remember to pause before the next month bills).

I, and two clients (one with an RV and one who has it for backup internet for their business) use the Roam > Mobile Regional plan. I purchased a month this spring and two or three months last year. The rest of the months service was on pause - no charge.

The above details what this Standard has available via their web site.

To be complete, I am moving to the Mini. When I heard about the Mini I was on the fence. It would be nice (for space in my jeep) to have the much smaller mini but that was not enough to make me switch (purchase cost is up there). Once I heard about the Mini's service plan the decision was easy. The monthly plan, which is pauseable and is geofenced to the United States is only $50 / month. Of note is that it is bandwidth capped at 50GB but I feel that cap should be readily big enough for what I would use while camping. The smaller size of the mini, lower complexity, and lower monthly have me switching - as long as 50GB is workable.

I do not have experience with the Mini but have reasonable experience, directly, as well as comments from clients with the Standard - performance is usable. Latency, when I use it for cell phone calls I and callers do not notice any pause or dead air when talking. As it is satellite based and the satellites are moving across the sky, upload and download and latency is always changing. Speeds are not stable as land based copper or fiber connections. I was at a client's place yesterday and they were getting 80Mbps down and 20Mbps up. Not stellar for small biz use - but it's the best that they can get*. The 80Mbps down can fluxuate up to about 200Mbps download. The Mini is supposed to have a slower bandwidth rates than what the Standard transceiver can achieve.

* I think they are using a Residential service plan. The Business service plans offer priority access and likely higher bandwidth - at a higher monthly cost.
