I agree, never been to Wheeler myself, thought I'd make it this Summer. Maybe his Fall still.

This is one of the trails that I try to make every year. Fall is the best time of the year to go.

You need to go, it's a great trail!

If you haven't been to Wheeler, you need to go. It is a classic trail. I usually run it around 3 times a year-very early, breaking some trail, mid season, and just before it closes, again in the snow. I have run it 3 times this year as I was staying in Fairplay. The last 2 times I ran it, I took the hardest lines, didn't air down and stayed 'open'. Got to say that that made it a little more entertaining....

The guy changing my oil asked me if I had run Wheeler, and I have not. I would like too but I have a few capability questions after seeing these shots. Can I do this Brody?

As Dave said...yes. You might not do (or want to do ) the hardest lines, but your rig and driving skills are more than up to the trail. Beautiful trail, too. LaDawn really likes it, too and she hasn't run it this year, so maybe we can do a run before the snow flies.

You are more than ready for this trail, we have taken bone stock discoveries up it a couple times with no issues!! You will be fine, bring your camera and a fishing pole!

Like I said, I ran it with open diffs and street pressure and took all the hardest lines. Sure, it was a little harder, but taking the easier lines and driving carefully will get you up it. I actually found the hardest section being the very last one after bowling ball hill mainly because the tires were wet. Airing down would've made this a hike, though.

Bren, myself and LaDawn and some other folks ran it mid November last year, probably a week or so before they closed the trail for the winter. We ran into some snow patches, but nothing of any consequence until the very top of bowling ball hill. There we found no tracks and about 12-20 inches of snow. Everyone got stuck, including yours truly, but winches and a heavy foot got us out. We ended up making to within a hundred yards of the lake and it was really pretty. We were the only folks up there, too.

Ok, you guys know my rig and how I drive so I am in. I am not aware of anything going on the weekend after the Fall Run (or rather, my weekend in Minnesota)

I have been 4 times, done the hard lines.. AND I DON'T HAVE LOCKERS!! It is a great trail for all, I have taken stock rigs out there before and they made it fine.

Unfortunately I cant make the trip after the Fall run, Sorry!
