My spare distributor came in the mail today and the sender included a bonus - an oil filter cooler. I'd never seen anything along this line so I thought I'd post a pic.

For what its worth - this guy got 400,000 miles out of his Land Cruiser. Not attributing it to this but it can't hurt I suppose.

Cooler oil is a plus and the one you got is a no brainer to install. This is set up just like the racing power steering coolers and other oil cooler with fins to dissapate the heat. Use it...It will work just like any other cooler (power steering, oil, transmission) to cool the oil. You will get longer life out of the engine. The other thing that I use, but which won't work with your cooler sleeve) is a FilterMag, which slips on the same way, but traps small metal particles against the side of the oil filter. I have used this for a number of years and like it, too.

Most of the Toyota engines from the 3.oL on came with a built in oil cooler on the side of the engine.
