Welcome!! First thing I would do is go out and have fun, what you want after that will show. From my experience I would say skid protection (sliders, bumpers, diff guards, etc) small lift and taller tires. But first go enjoy it!

:welcome: Gabe! Nice to have you here!

There are a number of 4Runners here and lots of good information. Some of our more experienced/knowledgeable people have them so ask away. You'll get good information from good people.

Hey Gabe!

First 4Runner? Cool.... Now you gotta figure out exactly what kinda driving and wheeling you are going to be doing with it. Is it a daily driver or a second wheeler rig? Is it going to be driven to the trails or trailered? Ask yourself some of these questions before you start doing any modifications because they will certainly affect what you will end up doing to your 4Runner. Some of the coolest looking rigs like what you see in Toyota Owner's Magazine, do not get driven to the trails at all simply because they are illegal to drive on the road.

Here are a couple of build up links to give you more ideas:

Anyway, check out our Toyota stuff, most especially the Toyota FAQ. You will find answers to almost all of your questions in the FAQ, but feel free to post any others.

Also keep in mind that there are a number of people on this site that do fabrication. Just PM any of us and let us know what you want to do and we will get back to you with prices.

Welcome Gabe.
Go out and use your truck. If you use it hard enough, you will know when mods are in order.
Here is a FAQ from Pirate that has tons of info and links.

Same Toyota FAQ that is on this site, BTW, and has been for a long time.

Excellent source of information. Probably the most comprehensive list of Toyota information in the world.....

hey welcome to the site, I have an 85 4runner. first thing i would do is get yourself some good sliders. the rocks are always bigger, and no matter how big you truck eventually ends up you'll never have to change out sliders. also like others have said don't be afraid to get out there with it, it'll go over a lot stock. Some good trails to hit would be china wall, and slaughterhouse gulch. you can look up those trails and see pics at www.traildamage.com Also do check out the pirate FAQ, again that thread is probably the most comprehensive and complete toyota info out there. just about any modification or repair is covered in there. again welcome to the site don't hesitate to ask any questions we have all skill levels here.
