I have driven by this place and never stopped in. Last night I went on a group ride (where I got my butt handed to me) and had a great time. Even at night the views were great. Seeing all of the burn area on the way out was also a big reminder of years past. If you are looking for a nice place to hike/bike this place is great.

I did come across on big ice patch on the descent back to the car... It was about 15 yards long and I didn't see the end width in the dark.... but it will be quite awhile before it's gone...

my friend Andy was a manager of the discount tire store by southwest plaza and we called him in indiana on vacation to let him know his house was a gonner in Pine CO i think that was the high meadow fire. he dodged the buffolo creek fire . he rebuilt his house in the same location minus the trees

That sucks! That area has been plagued by fire... High Meadow, Buffalo Creek, and Haymen all in that same general area.

where is this?

From Colorado Springs

Take 24 west to Woodland Park
Turn Right on Hwy 67 (north) to Deckers
At Deckers take 126 (go straight at the intersection) about 15 miles.

I parked at the ranger station on the right side of RD 543 but you can park on the left side(so you don't have to cross the road) on 543

if you get to Pine Junction you went to far!

Nice little BC trail map here:

Yeah, Aaron, I covered that whole area x3 in my rock climbing guide books. I have been rock climbing there since 1970 and have seen all the damage done by the fires up close. Hard to look at sometimes when you remember the areas as being covered with trees...BTW..just about every rock formation you saw, I have climbed something on it....I love that whole area still....

Yeah that actually crossed my mind as I was out there! There seems to be some great climbs
