31 horse-drawn carriages, and 5 motorized carriages. Among the exhibits are two presidential carriages, including an 1841 Williamsburg Brougham used for the inauguration ceremony of William Henry Harrison, the 9th President of the United States. The other presidential carriage, an 1862 C-Spring Victoria, belonged to the 21st U.S. President, Chester A. Arthur. Also, three Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb racecars. (circa 1920s) I think I'll have to check this out the next time I'm in town!!! :thunb: You going to be home this weekend??? :D

The museum was pretty neat. We had fun this past weekend! Check out the old pic of #24 hitting the hill...

1922

Noel Bullock showed up at Pike's Peak in his Ford Special with a 179ci, OHV, 50hp engine. Noel was practically laughed off the hill when he showed up at the 1922 event with a home built car. Because the car looked so poor, people called it the "Tin Lizzy." Noel surprised everyone by winning the race despite little practice and no time trial run. He even hand painted the #24 at the start when another racer commented that he needed a number. Noel Bullock shocked everyone with a 19:50.9 winning finish. After his win he was banned from the hill.

I just noticed the prefix on Noel Bullock's license plate. The "G" stands for "Guest." Colorado has not issued guest plates for a long time, but I can't find much info on it.

The typical 1922 Colorado license plate is black on white, not white on black. A decent set of 1922 Guest plates would set you back around $200 - $250 in today's collector market.
