My yep has turned into a nope. :( I had spaced the fact that I am involved in an emergency services group activity that morning. If we finish up early I will head that way and see if I can meet up with the group. I'd love to meet everyone.
What time are you guys meeting and what time do you think you'll be wrapping up?

Lake George, Colorado. I am sure the Denver group will get together and Caravan. From your area I think easiest would be to take 285 to hwy 24 east. Follow that to C.R. 77. Turn Left.. Go ten miles and look for a pylon with 212 on it. (that is F.S. 212) and that is China Wall.
As we get closer there will be meeting points for a caravan to the trail! :thunb:
Chris
March 12th, 2009, 06:25 PM
Right, the Denver people will meet at the new Safeway in Conifer. Someone will provide a more precise location.
(BTW, please don't use all caps. It's read as yelling)

WHAT?????????????WHO'S SHOUTING?????????
Aaron, Hwy 285 doesn't come close to Hwy 24 until almost Buena Vista, a long way outta the way. Then you gotta chase Hwy 9 back up through Hartsel, making a big and tedious U turn...What are you trying to do to this guy anyway?? I thought you were nice...
Hey Cruiser 51...pay no attention to Aaron...he suffers from dementia...I know, terrible in one so young, but he had a very misspent youth and has had many head injuries from mountain biking and snow boarding...very, very sad....
Where are you coming from? PM me and I'll give you best directions...

Gunnar (Dirty Toad) lives in Loveland, get in touch with him when you get a chance. A good guy but hasn't been on for a while. You can click on his banner too to find contact info - he's Lock, Stock & Vinyl.
Otherwise you can meet up with the Denver folks in Conifer. Since you're new to the state we can arrange a meeting in Denver too then go to Conifer.

Where are the CS people meeting up?
It is quicker(Based on Google maps) for me to drive to CS and up 24, then it is to go up 285 to China Wall, which is scary seeing as I live way north.
My nephew was interested in coming and he's in CS, so I may go that way and pick him up.
BTW, Chris can you put a RSVP on this thread to track who is going?

I-70 to 285 to China wall would make more sense from your area. If you're going to the Springs first then you could meet up with those folks.

Almost 3 hours taking I-70 to 285? That's not right. I don't trust any of those maps myself. CS timing sounds about right.
BTW, nice RSVP:D I'm signed up
Yeah, very cool! Last time I tried another mod on the board it screwed everything up but this looks like it's fine and very functional. Thanks again for pointing me to it in real use. ;)

Sorry folks, I had been keeping the 28th free to be able to join in on the run. then today I got a call from a friend. he has 2 free passes for a snowcat ski trip on the 28th. That presents me with a dilemma as I have never been cat skiing and have longed to go for quite a while. Since this sounds like a rare opportunity I opted to join him. I look forward to joining you all on a future run.

The higher you go, the higher the chances for a good heavy snow storm and temps are down into to 30s-40s (daytime) and as low as single digits night time.
InsanityIsBorn

Well if the temperature in Gunnison gives you clues at all, it is about 50-60 in gunnis during the day and as low as teens to twenties at night, so not bad at all.
