As part of our Barbour Fork adoption we were given the plans to build a larger sign which we should do this year. I imagine we could bang that together pretty quickly if the FS can provide the material.

The Forest Service also has plans for Bluebird nests in the clearing. Brant, our Forest Service contact, sent this: "I will ask the Wildlife Biologist about putting up some blue bird boxes. would you guys be interested in building some boxes? If the Biologist gives the ok, maybe you guys could build, install, maintain etc. as part of your adoption."

Open for discussion.

Be prepared Funrover! :D

Maybe there are enough folks with kids that it could be something like that. ;)

Hugh says he will build boxes if someone gives him the plan, AND says, "why should I go read the post when you are sitting right here?" !!!

I asked about the material today, I'll see what Brant comes back with. Hell, I'll buy the wood myself if need be. Yeah, I like Bluebirds.

Might have the big sign sitting next door, Chris. The builder where we live went bust and there is a 4x4(2 posts) and 4x8 plywood sign with their name on it in the model home. We would just have to trim the wood to size, break it down and then re build it. I think that it has a nice little rabbit joint to set the plywood into already cut in, too.

I am checking on it today and should know in another day or so. Don't be buying materials yet....

That would be great, do you have the plans for what we need from last year? I can bring my copy Thursday when we get together.

I'd love to make some birdhouses. But, they'd probably turn out looking like these ;)

I like them but suspect the wildlife biologist wouldn't.

Got to admit tho that is a creative use for old plates plus keeps the water out!
I can talk with my dad and see if he would like to build a few he needs something to occupy his time with these days and loves wood working too.

Sounds good, I'm waiting to hear from the Forest Service. Not always the quickest decision makers.
