Camper roof help!

So I have a few ideas on rebuilding the pop up roof. I want to use insulation inside(mostly for noise) I am curious what insulation is out there that is good. I went to lowes and found styroboard... is this stuff good? can I use liquid nails to hold it? any tips/advice?

I might be talking out the side of my mouth here, but it seems that you don't want anything even remotely acidic on the styroboard. What about gorilla glue? That has held on the plastic inside my front fender well.

Do not use liquid nails for anything styrofoam! In fact, do not use any construction adhesive not specifically marked 'foam board adhesive' as it will melt the foam board , leaving you with the board loose and big gooey pits where the glue was. That includes Gorilla Glue, Pathrat..great stuff, but the wrong application.

As far as what to use for the actual insulation, if it is rigid and doesn't bend, then any of the foam insulating products out there will work fine. I would shy away from the foil backed stuff, though as you will have problems with getting anything to stick to the foil.

I don't know off the foil you talk about but a bunch of forums warn against it. What do I cover the insulation with to hide it afterward though?

card board, and cover that with fabric. kinda creating your own headliner.

our camper has been redone and is like new including the canvas thanks anyways

Good, now I know. Wasn't aware that there was a special adhesive.

I have a couple ideas now after working on a camper today. I am gonna use 1x() for the frame(and to keep it light) and see what I can find for metal..some thin sheet aluminum would be awesome f I could find it!

Learned the hard and expensive way on the adhesive many years ago..stuck with me, so to speak...
