Hey guys, I am a fellow Land Cruiser nut like you all. I have a 71 FJ55, and a 76 BJ40 (LHD), and a 2002 Tundra Supercharged.
I will post some pictures soon. A recent computer reformat has all of my pictures in one file (need to organize back on the new hard drive).
Either way you all might benefit from these cool sites:

Land Cruiser owners, like myself, are a very small minority on this site. ;)
Welcome, nice of you to get around to the intro! Very nice Pig! :thunb:

Welcome
That is one shinny rig! We will take care of that! LOL.
I remember when mine looked like showroom. 1.5 yrs ago. I think I would not bring that one out much though.

Just for the record, this is an FJ55 that I am in the middle of purchasing. It is a 78. Mine is not quite as nice. The pictures of my FJ55 are buried in an external hard drive. I will post them up once I find them!

Well, I hate to say this but I decided against purchasing the 78 Pig.
I came across a sweeeet 78 FJ40 in my search. The 40 has 28K original (documented) miles. It even has the TEQ front windshield that looks brand new (no pitting)! The hard top still has the factory caulking around the bolts which indicates that it has never been taken off. The 2F starts better than my 4.7 V8 on my 02' Tundra!!
My plan is to do a frame up restoration on this rig. This should be a fun project as the 40 I have to start with has almost zero rust.
This will be my first ever frame up restoration. I did some work on my 71 FJ55, and also restored a 70 VW Bus, but by far this will be my first REAL restoration...SO TIPS ARE APPRECIATED.

I will. I plan on documenting the entire build here, rising sun, and on mud.
Tips and suggestions are most appreciated!

Welcome to the site! That is a super clean 40! What a score finding one with so little rust, even in all the usual rust spots!
A frame off would be great! Looking forward to keeping up with the resto...keep us posted please!
Post any questions you have. Most of us have done a frame off at one time or another, whether on a Yota or something else. My last was a 69 Bronco project and Sean is working on a 57 Ford pickup that has been in his family for 3 generations..this will be the 4th...So, yu have quite a bit of experience to draw on on this site. Best bet is to do a :this is what I have read/been thinking about trying, post it up and see what responses you get from the crew here...
Looking forward to seeing this on the trail sometime. You can always wheel the Tundra...we have a bunch of full size here, too...
Know what you mean about the 4.7 Tundra V8. My supercharged 3.4L with huge tires would absolutely dust the brand new 4.7L V8 Tundra I had for awhile...

As this will be my first frame up resto I definitely appreciate being able to draw from all of your experience!
I will definitely document the entire build.
My 4.7L V8 on my Tundra has the super charger. Many many times it won't start. The dealership (Pedersen Toyota) has told me two different things...1) that it is running lean (it does have the 9th injector)...2) that it is flooding. No one seems to be able to figure out the issue. John at Coyote Cruisers (Fort Collins) has the same truck, so I took it over to him and he also could not find the issue. I wish I could fix the issue, because the truck is sweet (and paid off as well!).

Go to this site:
http://www.urdusa.com/
Under Dog Racing Development
These guys are totally dialed into performance Toyota stuff and sell a selection of pulleys for the TRD superchargers. What you are going to want for this altitude is a 2" pulley vs what comes on the supercharger in stock form, which I think is a 2.2".
Also, the main guru at URD is a guy called Gadjet and he will answer your emails and questions like nobody's business. There is a link to his site from the URDUSA link above, but I think that you can just email him directly from : gadjetonline.com
These guys race Toyotas big time, most of which are either supercharged or turboed and they have an 1100hp 4 banger dragster that simply screams. Gadjet has helped me out numerous times in the past and I can't say enough about the answers and speedy replies he has given me.
If anything, with your supercharger at this altitude, your main problem should be running too lean. This is the main complaint with the bolt on supercharger units. I did the URD fuel system upgrade kit..different injectors, bigger fuel pump, bolt on piggy back ECU (well, not the ECU yet, but that's a different story) and I am actually running just a little rich right now.
Hope that this helps out

I figured out what your problem is............a truck isn't allowed to be that clean and its rebelling against you. Damn slick man, I don't think either of my cars have ever been that clean since the I got them. Need to get that sumbitch in the mud .

Now that is funny. I had the engine detailed after I cleaned it...so I took some pictures since I doubt I will ever see it that clean again.
I guess there were only 300 superchargers shipped out to the US from TRD for the 4.7L V8...then they found out that they had engine failure and stopped shipping. Of course I have one of the 300.

Thanks for the tip...I called Gadget and he has me doing a few diagnostic things. If it is what he thinks it is...a failed TRD controller then he has an aftermarket part to fix it. He said to hold off on the pully, and or anything else until we find out if it is the controller, since they are notorious for failing.
I will let you know what I find out.
