I'm not ranting on this cause it was my own dumb fault!!:)
But here is the just I am starting my weekend off on the right foot literally>
Just 15 minutes into my weekend I got to learn the for going 10-19 miles over the posted speed limit it is a 4 pointer & 15-19 will cost ya $130 in Denver, that is if it paid within 20 days if later it jumps to $155.
Best part is I have not had a speeding ticket since 1987 when I was in Germany, guess I was overdue. Can't wait to see how much my insurance is going to go up now. Lesson is I should have been focusing more on the driving aspect than on my truck and son also a bit more patience about the guy I was passing on 270.

That sucks! I got my first speeding ticket in almost 30 years last year doing 10 over the speed limit going down towards Bailey on Crow Hill. That was also a 4 pointer, reduced to 2 if paid within 20 days, and cost me $165...for within the 20 day period...then it went up. I was waiting to see what happened with my insurance, but haven't seen an increase yet. Maybe you'll get lucky. I was dealing with a bad leak on my coffee cup and didn't shift down soon enough...

I saw him at the last minute hiding under Quebec St. Bridge and I wasn't even paying attention to that lil voice inside me. Times like this is when working nights stinks. Good thing was that I was not in the ranger, I just realized the other day that the plates expired last month on it and also he did not add on that my insurance card was expired too, I just forgot to put the new one in both vehicles.

i hadn't ever gotten a ticket until last year i got busted twice. once was completely bogus the idiot couldn't figure out the car PASSING me was going faster:mad:. This whole racket really pisses me off. it's not about safety it's about the fact that the city wants to take more of your money. when i see 3-4 CSP cruisers lined up on the off ramp it's time to cut their budget. i'll stop my rant.

Going east on I70 Friday, right at the I70/I25 interchange, I watched a local cop pull someone over from the passing lane all the way over to the shoulder on the right side of the road, crossing 3 lanes of traffic.
This was in standard morning traffic and in doing this, he almost caused a multi car pile up. He had the six cars in front of me locking up their brakes and going all over the place and caused problems in the other two lanes of traffic he crossed as well.
This was all for someone doing a little over 5 over the posted speed as I had watched the guy he pulled over pass me...And I don't think he even was aware of what he had just done, he had such hots to get his ticket quota...If I had had my camera, I would've tried to film it and then send his information to his boss and the news channels...absolute idiocy on his part...all so that he can live the 'to serve and protect' life style...

I wish I could say that I haven't gotten many speeding tickets, but alas I cannot. I will say that in my experience, its always worth going to court if i you can make it. The DA usually is happy to give plea bargains out, especially if you haven't gotten one in long time or ever. I wouldn't mention the Germany one though, so you can make it seem longer since you got one.
Its definitely a big money maker for them, with parking being the only larger income for "infractions" for the city of Denver. I got one on I-225 about a year ago for 10 over, and the DA auto-plea bargained it down (like I didn't even have to go see them) to 1 point and a reasonable fine. Just had to go to the clerk and pay up. Pretty nice.
Cops are fairly reasonable in CO too. Still don't like running into them, but they aren't as bad as the higway patrol in NY. I've seen one cop pull over 5 cars at once (and I hear its not uncommon). They write down your license plate number and then tell you to pull over, along with the other cars in your direct vicinity. Good times had by all. Seems like its the opposite in CO though. Its amazing how many times you see 3 cops that have pulled over 1 speeder.
Oh, and my best ever story for getting pulled over, was in Boulder (unsurprisingly). I literally got pulled over by a bike cop (and yes I mean bicycle not motorcycle). This chick cop on a mission literally threw herself through my open window. She had a major stick up her butt about something, since all I had done was pull out of a parking space with my headlights off ,which I did because it was late at night and I had to turn around, and there was a house with huge bay windows and I didn't want to blast their living room. As soon as my headlights were past the bay window I turned them on. She gave me a ticket for driving without headlights or something like that, which is a 2 point $120 offense. Worst part was I had a cooling pizza sitting in the passenger seat waiting to get delivered (another crap job I have done). Did get it plead bargained down to 1 point but a higher fine. Gotta love Boulder. Some days I miss it, and most days I'm glad I don't live there anymore.

Speaking of pedal bikes...
When I was going to the All Concrete College years ago, I was riding my bike from 1st and Sherman straight down Broadway, Broadway being the fastest and easiest as far as hitting the lights went. Well, there were a couple of lights that you could just tag on the yellow if you were going downhill full bore..like to the point of running out of pedal...which, of course, meant going faster than the 30 mph posted speed limit. I actually had a motorcycle cop pull me over and give me a 10 over ON MY BICYCLE! I couldn't believe it! I thought that I was in Boulder or something...and he was one of those 'no humor, shut up' types.
I ran into another Sheriff in Jefferson when a couple of guys that were working for us ran their car off the road in the middle of nowhere and out of cell range. Well, since no one was hurt, they hitch hiked back to the same motel I was staying at to call for help. The sheriff and the local cop came to the hotel to catch these 'criminals' who 'left the scene of an accident'. I happened to be talking to these guys when the cops show up.
The first thing the sheriff does is grab my arm and shove me out of the way with a 'stand right over there'. Then he asks for ID. I am not happy at this point and tell him that not only was I not involved in the accident, but that if he wanted to see my ID, he was going to either have to ASK for it or flat put me down and take it off me...He passed on needing to see my ID...I also told him that I would've done the same damn thing as far as 'leaving the scene'...you can wait a long time for help out there...and the snow was coming down and wind blowing, especially since nothing and no one but the car was damaged...

i have learned that it is no longer law enforcement it is revenue enforcement. I mean LEO agencies are businesses that need to bring in money to operate, so they start targeting what makes the most money.... you dont see anyone getting tickets for j-walking.. cause their aint no money in it.
I dont want to get started on the law ill end up having a bad day...

Its definately a money racket. In Summit county, if you get a ticket up to 4 points and do not have a bad history for speeding, they offer you "probation". Basically, you pay an extrs $100 or so and get the points down to 0 so your insurance won't go up. The catch is that if you get a moving violation within the next year from any state, the points go back on plus the new points. Oh and no refund of course

None for me for probably 30 years, before that I had plenty in my hot rodding days with my good old '57 Chevy. The funniest thing I remember with this was getting pulled over in Minnesota in a "safety check" where they pulled everyone over. I didn't have my license with me so they said "Fine, we'll just check that you have one." A few minutes later someone in an office somewhere starts reading off my history over the police loudspeaker to the amusement of everyone there. It went on and on and on. Every time it sounds like they were done there was a deep breath over the PA and went on with another batch.
Everyone there, including the cops, couldn't keep from laughing. No, I didn't get another one for not having my license with me.

LOL no, I dont get cool ticket passes :P I would be nice. But Where my family was cops at is many states away, it does no good down here. I am kinda the black sheep though. Insted of becoming a cop I became a volunteer firefighter and was doin that at the age of 16 to the age of 20. But dont get me wrong either, Ive made some good friends in the local and county law enforcment. And yes, I would still get a ticket. If I do wrong I accept the ticket and punishment.

Luckily this afternoon when going out highway 58 to Jefferson cnty Court House(Taj Mahal) there was a cop on a bike catching people coming outta the construction zone at the bottom of the hill so when I was coming back the guy behind me was on my butt and trying get me to go faster but I stayed @44mph and passed the same cop I even pointed him out to the guy behind me but he didn't care I figured he would have got nailed for tailgating me(drafting for the racing fans) No luck there and then coming back from Adams cnty Court house I had an un marked Exursion CSP almost hit me on the pass. side then gave me the dirty look and was on my butt for about 2 miles Good thing I was driving the Focus today but I need to remember to get out of the power pedal in it.

I had a good friend whose father was a police captain, I recall being with him once when he was stopped. "Oh, you're Captain Smith's boy aren't you? I'm not going to give you a ticket but I will be talking to you dad about this." My friend said "Please give me a ticket and don't tell him!"

No tickets since 2001, and I did get a mess of them. I never got some paperwork I was asked to send in regarding insurance. I found this out when I went to fight a traffic ticket (I improperly changed lanes while avoiding an officer who had pulled someone over ) and was informed by the court that I did not have a license. I took out my license and said, 'Yes I do, it's right here'. "No, you may have your the physical license right there but it has been revoked. Please approach and speak to the city attorney". I felt like such an idiot! I had to take my driving test, take a point for a lesser offense and get dropped by my insurance company for six months. Could have been much worse.

When I moved to CO I couldn't get a license because mine was revoked in IL because I didn't provide proof of insurance. Why not? Because I was living in MN! I drove in MN for 25 years but had to clear up my revocation in IL before getting licensed here.

1. I-70 when you cross from denver into aurura. theres a shooter ontop of the chambers east bound get on ramp. with chasers at the bottom.
2. I-70 east andwest parked behind the 225 bridge support post.
3. I-70 east sitting on the hill embankment at airport rd
4. I 25 north around 84th and thorton park way when I25 crests the hill and there on the get on ramp. also on the south bound side.
5. in the middle of the HOV lane on I25 north bound in between the K rails
6. watch out for a blue unmarked dodge charger with dark tinted windows cruising I70 east and west bound. he will try to make you go faster because he will ride your bumber, making you think hes a faster car trying to get by.
7.at night around 10-2 everyone is a susspect because of the bars so do the speed limit and dont accidently weave your car trying to reach for something.

I used to have a switch for my brake lights that made them go independently of the pedal. I would do that for tail gaiters and it worked pretty sweet.
The best I ever heard of was a buddy of mine wired up a bus windshield washer and line to a seperate reservoir and ran the spray (a simple piece of small diameter copper or brass) line that went out the back of his pickup angled just over the top of his bumper. Those bus washers crank out some fluid, too. He would put brake fluid in the reservoir and when someone tailgated him, hit the 'splash, cease and desist' button. It really worked well...
Now I just downshift a gear or two really hard...when I am alone, of course...no sense in a passenger getting jacked cause you are doing a little 'anger management'....

I had some dip sh_t in what he thought was a driftercar cut me off so I hit myoffroad lights on the bumper and light up his car then he slammed on the brakes thinking I couldn't stop quick enough well his mistake cause once I stopped and thru open the door he freaked and took off fast!
But any other time I just let off the gas and down shift from 5th to 3rd agood 20mph drop in speed and I stay there till they get pissed and go around.
But what I really hate is cell phone use in a vehicle whenever I get near someone attempting to drive while talking or texting I lay on the horn.

I like the people that beep their horn when you don't burn the tires getting away from a light that just changed..or the ones that beep when you happen to be reading the "No Turn On Red" sign right in front of you. As for that construction zone ticket, thats friggin insane. I got caught going 40 over in Keystone once (was a little too keen on getting up to the twisty bits of Loveland Pass and got caugt doing 85 in a 45.......though in my defence he got me right where it changed from 55 to 45) and the cop gave me a ticket for both excessive speed and reckless driving. Never have dealt with a bigger prick cop then this dude. He was trying to bait me into saying stuff and was being a general dick. I honestly surprised he didn't arrest me. I definitely showed up for court, and the DA laughed and threw away the reckless driving ticket and reduced the points on the speeding ticket. The fine wasn't huge either. Nothing like that construction zone one. Funniest part was this 16 year old kid in the room with the DA at the same time that was getting busted on Pot possesion charges. He got some silly hand slap charge, though I imagine it wasn't nearly as bad as the reaming he got from his parents about it.

Get the neck checked out ASAP...MRI, CAT scan, the works. Working in the neuro trauma floor at Swedish for almost 2 years taught me that head/neck injuries can bite you in the ass long after the accident.
Don't sign anything that prevents you from seeking damages unless it specifically states that the other insurance is going to cover you that length of time.... at least a year after the accident. They will pressure you to do this...ask them exactly how much they want you to get a bad boy accident attorney involved and they will back down...

Glad that you are OK!
They will pressure you to do this...ask them exactly how much they want you to get a bad boy accident attorney involved and they will back down...
yeah never sign anyting without an attourney present. you will most definately screw yourself in the end. Insurance places will write stuff up to make it look like your getting off well but in fact your really limiting yourself of what you can do. Especially if your the injured one.

Especially checks, typically signing a check means you'ce accepted settlement (fine print)

Thanks everyone on the get well wishes,Yep I am going to get an attorney tomrrow lots of calls to make, I headed off to work after the accident(my car was the only one driveable left) got about 1/2 way there and started hurting more and left hand was getting tingly and one heck of a headache so I turned around and went to the hospital to get checked out they did a ton of x-rays and they were all clear but I know those don't always show everything either. this neck brace is driving me crazy tho, but I know it is for the best too.

Me or the accident??? Nah I know what you mean Larry. A bad case of whip lash. Thanks! Not sure about the other 5 drivers involved although the nurse told me that 3 were brought in by ambulance and one was hurt pretty bad. I felt really bad for the young lady behind me she was so distraught over her car. I know at least 4 of the 6 cars most likely will be totalled.

WEAR the neck brace whenever out in public, until a doctor sais your ok sounds like youve got it really bad! Your in for a long road so get prepared. Get your attourney and do what he sais. and Take it easy!

That sux dude, hope you are ok! get that neck checked out too dont want it getting worse.
Just like he says! Please to see your primary care physician and request an MRI, or at least a CAT scan. The MRI will be better at soft tissue damage. Brody is absolutely on the ball with his advice above.

... It's reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaally loud to them when their door is even with the right front my truck. :D
The stock horn said, "uhm, pardon me, I don't want to upset you but you're cutting me off & you might cause an accident"
This horn says, "HEY! PAY ATTENTION!!!" :D
That's great Larry, love it!

riding a motorcycle for 16 years will really get you in tune with predictive driving, it has saved my life countless times. I can spot the tards a mile away now...

Sean
X rays, especially with whiplash related injuries, don't show squat. The doctor at the hospital should have known that...probably did, as MRIs and CAT scans are pretty damn expensive. Tingling in the hands, etc (which I was going to mention, but simply forgot) isn't a great sign and needs to be checked out. Also note what the signs of injury you are having are, when(time wise), what position you were in when you noticed then and what you were doing. Try to keep track of this stuff too, as it could be really important. I have been through this with a work related back injury that crushed 3 discs years ago...
And, as Randy said, wear your neck brace whether you fell you need it or not...especially out in public!

Yeah I have a running record of it all, only taken the brace off twice to massage the sore muscles a little even sleeping with it on.

Yep got that one covered, Well Doc said I can leave the neck brace off except for going places in the car and she wants me to start physical therapy as well as seeing a specialist that specializes in soft tissue and muscles. Plus I will be off work til next thursday. so there goes my vacation in June oh well health is more important.

My last speeding ticket was in Texas a couple of years ago now and I can tell you that you don't want a ticket down there. I was hit at 11 over in a 70 MPH zone on super bowl sunday none the less. I hadn't had a ticket in over 20 years and figured if anyone was a candidate for drivers ed and a reduction of points it was me. Nope, in Texas if you are an out of state driver they won't even let you take the drivers ed program. you just pay up or go to court.... Sucks, I really hate Texas.

I thought you could just pay the cop and avoid court in Texas. :erm:

I knew a guy that got popped in Texas for doing around 150mph...he got an on the spot $800 ticket. It was either pay up or get his license taken and his car impounded...and walk from where he got pulled over...

Well here is the latest update, since yesterday was so nice out I got to take a look at the car for the first time in daylight and it did more than I thought, Not only is the rear bumper a mess but it also messed up the Hatch seal area, buckled the rear pass. quarter panel in 2 places and the pass. door is hard to open, I did not look under it too hard with this brace on. So will see what the attorney says this afternoon. And a super big THANK YOU to LaDawn for the massage, feels so much better!!
