Today we went to Hartman Rocks in Gunnison. It was opening weekend, so needless to say there was mud to be had. The trails looked dry, but they had a solid 5" of mud under the dry, sandy, topsoil. The mud wasn't really bad until we were about as far away as we could get from civilization.. but that's to be expected right? No pics of while we were there, but each of us (me and kiel) got stuck a few times in mud closer to 8". Our friend Anthony brought his s-10 Blazer up, but got a flat and had to park it for the day.

Moral: check out the soil under the surface.. especially if you don't have 200' of tow strap to get out.

It was great, it ended up working out that our buddy's truck got a flat because we would have had to leave it stuck in the mud. His tires are a little used up, and definitely not self-clearing. Many of the times we were sliding around without using the gas or brakes, it was a trip!

we went back to hartman rocks again today. my buddy tim and his stock s10 blazer raged some pretty intense stuff. i actually bobbled on 3 wheels... that hasn't happened really in a while (or ever maybe). anthony proved himself as a master spotter, helping us avoid iminent vehicle damage. here are the pics!!

You could spend all day up there, there are miles and miles of trails. If you know where to go, there are tons of rock obstacles to hit too.
