Who would like me to add a chat script?

That would be pretty cool. Theyve got it on one of the Hummer Forums I frequent and its a cool way for members to say hi and BS instantly. Would it be at the top of the Forum page?

Probably at the bottom, the top is getting too crowded and I don't like scrolling down to find the posts.

I think it would be a +! Is there a place now to click or look to see who is actively online at any given time other than looking at the indicator under their screen name?

I picked up an extra-duty tomorrow, today actually, so the extra pics will have to wait.

I am up for it, it would save time going back and forth writing in the forums so much and highjacking some of the posts.

I'm all for it!

Yes, the last link in "Quick Links" is "Who's Online"

Or bookmark this URL: http://frontrange4x4.com/forums/online.php

I like the idea

I like the idea as well...

However, it is important to note that much of the utility of the site is the ability to search though to find information about various topics. If the chat feature is used, there will necessarily be some amount of information that is lost (assuming chats are not saved and searched).

We should try to minimize that as much as possible. Probably can't be easily managed though..

Okay, I've added it strictly as a test. My only intent is to keep chat out of threads since there's so much hijacking and getting off topic.

Ask your questions in the forums. The Message Center is for small talk only that doesn't interfere with, or replace, any discussions.

This is a test only, like everything else I may decide it's not working or being mis-used it will be removed.

I will be removing chat from existing threads.

You can find it linked through the community links.

Hey irprncess, did you try the direct link? It may not have worked for you a few posts ago since you may have been under 50 posts. If it still doesn't work tell me what browser you're using.

Thanks! That time it worked... Dan tried to send me that link twice in Yahoo IM and it still just took me to the smilies...

Hmm. Can't use Community->MemberChat or that direct link. Both take me to the smiley FAQ page in both Firefox and IE.

I am soooo glad I'm not the only one with the problem. I suggested to Dan that maybe it was a status thing... I couldn't use it when I was still newbie status. But miraculously I was able to get the link in here to work after i became a new member... :( owie my head!

That's the way I have it set up - you need to have 50 posts before it will work. ;)
