Some folks call them that. I'd show a pic but I can't here.

Got ya, Its the just a new term for me. Im from the country and most of the ole timers called them handy mans. Ive never really trusted those. Kinda scare me actually. Just the thought of them kickin out and bustin ya in the baby maker or other places on the body. And thanks for the clairification on this.

Yeah, they're one of those things to carry and hope you never need to use.

One of the handiest jacks, winching devices and clamps known to man. And yes, you can screw yourself up with it. You can find them at pawn shops for around $35-45 and for sale on craigslist and other places for roughly the same price.

Check out the 'Recovery' section in the 'How To' thread and there is a lot of information there about the uses of a Hi Lift or Handy Man jack. It is almost a must have for any 4x4 lifted vehicle...I use mine a lot, like Roland does...around the house, on construction jobs and off road.

Here is the link:

FYI: we did a 'recovery clinic' a few months ago and covered winching, hi lift usage, etc. I proposed to Pathrat that we do another one simply due to the number of new folks we have as well as new folks who are new to wheeling. Nothing like trying to learn how to do something when you are already in a bind. Anyway, look for the date for this run...Everyone had fun and learned a lot. There were a few very experienced people showing how stuff was done...and what not to do..
