Hope to have pics tomorrow. I saw one of these a year ago. They are so cool! Major articulation, floats, 4 wheel drive, and some are 4 wheel steer!

I saw that. For something that small i couldn't believe they would bother with 4w steer.

Only one I have seen in person was 2 wheel steer. I think that is sufficient.

This should be a total kick to drive. Major articulation. It will be a project but I hope to have it running before the end of summer.

Got it! Delivered to my house in trade for a $100 winch! It is a 4 wheel steer model that has been disconnected to make a 2 wheel steer. Will convert it back. Everything but the rollbar is there. Will need work to run, but will be a blast to drive!

The diffs are fully locked, so turning it and pushing it into the driveway was a bit of a chore. Should make driving it more fun!

Where do you sit?
Patrolman
May 11th, 2009, 10:20 PM
It is missing the seats. All they were was a padded plank. They sit on the lip on either side shown in the 3rd pic. They sit over top of the motor and transmission. There is also room in the back for a pair of seats, 1 that faces forward, 1 that faces backward. Makes for 6 people to ride pretty comfy or cramming in up to 9 people. Weight becomes the issue at that point.

that thing is awsome. all u need to do is put a banshee engine in there and she will scoot.

It has a 2 speed trans with reverse and neutral. Apparently in 2nd gear it can do 30mph with one person. I think it is a 12hp motor. Not terribly powerful. Since it is gear driven it might accept a larger motor.
My Cushman is hydrostatic instead of gear driven. Too much engine doesn't make sense as the pump for the hydrostat is the limiting factor in the drivetrain.

I have seen that pic before! I think that is an amphibious ATV that they dropped a Sammy body onto. The Coot can run up to a 31" tire apparently. Has 225's right now I think. Pretty standard wheel pattern is nice.
Not sure who has seen my other project/toy. Pic attached. :)

That Cushman was running and driving. It was a kick! I had 3 of them at the time. Sold off 2 and kept the hardtop version that I still have. Doing an engine swap on it to an EFI Geo Metro engine. Should be a cool snow rig when it is done!

Found a decent video of the Coot. Mine has the 4 wheel steer just like this one. Also is sealed tight for amphibious use. Wish it had the optional propeller, but how often would it be needed? I need to get some tires like this one has though!

I had a six wheeled argo for a little while. It was pretty fun never got to use it much though. I would think you would catch the corner when it was flexed out.

I actually wasn't even looking for this. Some guy offered it to me one day. I was really looking for an Argo. Those are cool rigs. Being 6x6 and you can slap a set of tracks on them. Only problem with them is there is 0 articulation. Same as my Cushman. The way the Argo floats though is cool! My coot is water tight and supposed to float. Will see what happens when I get it running. In the meantime I have been looking at tires. They run a standard 15" Jeep rim, so I can put up to 33" tires on it. :)
