Pickle Gulch 5-16 Report Part 1

Well this trail has gotten a bit rougher than last time I tried to run this back in March, The ruts are a lot deeper and the mudholes where a blast except the mud was like cement today. Everyone on the run did really good making it up the rock out cropping, we hit snow about 1-1/2miles into the run and had to dig out Charlies cherokee and then got not a whole lot further and hit deepr drifts which Mickey gave it a good shot in the Explorer and past that it was 3-5 foot deep drifts for over 100 yards. We turned around at that point and started down to the mudhole and was doing good then one of the cherokees got caught up by a log and rock that were burried under the cement mixture of mud. After sometime working to get him free everyone headed the rest of the way down to the trail head in one piece, A few of us had to depart and the rest went on over to try from the Apex Rd. enterance.

*sigh* one more week and i can afford to go back out and start breaking trails! ill have my winch on this coming weekend. Missed out on a good run :(

Yes it was good to meet you guys and thanks for the ride along Charlie & Bill. I was really impressed with the way those Cherokees ride up there, Micky did an awesome job winching people out today.
When I get home in the am my first priority is to get the rest of the pics and vids uploaded, I got everyone videod on the rocks but didn't get to on the mud hole. Most of that was getting WJJEEPER unstuck. I slept so ggod this evening I slept right through both alarms and my boss called @11:15 to see if I was coming in tonight LOL, I know I had a good time Thanks everyone.

I just got home from work... what a long day yesterday and got a good workout shoveling snow. :)I had an awesome time meeting and wheeling with everyone! Look forward to completing this Trail with all you guys this summer. Ive got LOTS pics so Ill post mine when I get up this afternoon. Time for bed...

I really enjoyed meeting everyone on this run. Charlie, good job leading us around! Sean, nice job with the pictures, I think you wound up walking as far as we drove to get them all. Mike, I hope that ABS problem winds up being easy (and cheap) to fix, you were getting some pretty good flex on that front wheel when the Hummer was pulling you forward. If only we could have seen that giant tree root that was stopping your progress... I'll spare the couple pictures I have of the WJ up to its bumper in mud, as that seems to have been covered pretty well here already, leaving two pictures of scenery below (gotta show the wife there's stuff to look at other than stuck Jeeps or she'll never come along).

Sometimes you can't get all the way over until the 4th of July because of the drifts on the Apex side of the trail.
