So after getting into it with Paypal 2 weeks ago, I got into it with the manager at Envirotest.
Something to keep in mind, as a seller using Paypal, you basically have NO RECOURSE if the buyer isn't happy. You aren't even covered for any of the shipping costs. The buyer states they are not happy with the item, you cover all the costs. What BS.
I had to get a VIN verification for an out of state car. Took it to Envirotest (emissions stations). Took them 30+ minutes to complete it last Saturday. On Tuesday I took the paperwork to the DMV and turns out it was done with an error. Went back to Envirotest and they said I would have to wait for 1 hour or more in the lobby until someone could help me. I basically went ballistic when the manager confirmed this. They made the mistake and I had to wait 1 hour or more for someone to fill out a single page of paper? What BS. I demanded my $15 back and they reluctantly gave it to me, without a 1 hour wait. Not sure how that went so fast.
Anyways, turns out that any DMV, any independent emissions station, and most auto dealers can complete the VIN verification. I went to an independent emissions place (1981 and older) and was in/out within 10 minutes for only $10. Ugh. Why waste my time at Envirotest. Rumor has it Denver may follow in the footsteps of other cities in CO and eliminate emissions test. I can't wait so I don't have to deal with those idiots!

Sorry to hear that Jeff, dealing with idiots can try ones patience.
Tidbit: When I lived in Mpls they eliminated emissions testing when their research showed it hadn't reduced emissions in any of the test sites.

I know they have been trying for several years to eliminate the emissions in Denver Metro areas. The politicians and Envirotest are being stubborn. Go figure. $43 million or something might have something to do with it.
They are the biggest bunch of morons over there that always seem to royally screw up every time I go. RWD car with front wheels on the rollers? Duh.

Now that is pretty lame.
I sold my camera stuff on ebay last month. The guy wrote back complaining about a few things that were clearly stated in my ad (lens has small scratch kind of stuff) He didn't ask for anything. I addressed his 'concerns', telling him please refer to the auction posting and asked him what he wanted. Guy told me there was no picture of the small scratch, tried to tell me the battery didn't fit the camera (tested in store at Wolff Camera) and didn't tell me what he wanted. He just wanted to ***** and maybe get me to give him some cash back, which I was not going to volunteer. Asked him again, what do you want? No reply. Definitely fishing for some refund. Weak.

Emissions is a load of doodoo. When I had the Ram I took it down to the emissions place and I guess they must have really loved the truck because they spent 45 minutes doing the testing... Oh yeah, and over half a tank of gas. When I complained about the time it took to do it and the gas or lack thereof, they replied that because the tires were at the biggest testing limit, the test was harder to get accurately completed. I went higher in the chain, and got an apology, but nothing more. Stupid high school kids just wanted to play with my truck.

Yeah, I pulled in last year and had an army of guys looking it over, pulling manuals off of shelves, calling someone else in and doing the same stuff over and over. They spent 30 minutes looking it over for who knows what. Put it on the dyno and it passed in the quick test. They gave me a warning that my check engine light wasn't working.

What really ticked me off is that this was basically a used automotive bra. It showed used, I listed it as used, and the person got about 1/2 off the new price and did a BIN. I sent it out and immediately got an email saying they were sending it back and they weren't happy. Absolutely no "correspondence" before it got mailed back. Paypal and Ebay both sided with the buyer as they had sent it back. I had no say in it. I am really ticked and decided I likely won't ever sell on Ebay again. VERY hesitant to use Paypal again either. Only takes one idiot to ruin it. I did however block the particular person from bidding on anything I have listed. I had other items listed at the time as I was doing Spring cleaning and didn't want them screwing around with my auctions.

Now that eBay & PayPal are one it's going to be tough. In their defense I was a buyer that a guy in AU tried to stiff and PayPal got me all my money back.

I lost $75 when I bought some software and it was a cheap copy not OEM like pictured. PayPal and Ebay could do nothing. THe guy pulled his account and I was out the $75.
I sold a custom made intake setup to a guy. Got prepaid via PayPal. Had intake setup done in 6 days after money cleared the bank. I told him it would be 2 to 3 weeks delivery. Guy wanted to pick it up at my shop on several occasions he didn't show and left me hanging. Almost 2 months later he reported me to PayPal that I didn't deliver the product and he wanted a full refund. BS. I made a report back to PayPal with all the correspondence and PayPal ruled in my favor, mostly because it was past the time limit to dispute but still it was a custom made to order product and was done in less then 2 weeks from the order date. I shipped it to him after he PayPal'd me another added shipping charge and it was shipped the same day the money hit my bank account, and he said that he would never do business with me again. He sold the car he was going to put it on and just didn't need it anymore. Why is that my fault?
