Well I am coming out of retirement tomorrow morning to paint a freind(a guy that works for me) part of his 80's power boat. He will be here about 10:30 he said it's preped and ready to go so all I should have to do is finish masking it off and spraying. He picked up (I hope) PPG base coat clear coat which is my favorite paint brand. Yep I know short notice but it has just come together and I have other afternoon plans. I'm in the Brighton area if you want to be bored and watch me go round and round with a paint gun.

And he did the prep? Sounds sketchy but take some pressure off of you. lol
I like that paint too but on a boat I think lots of clear over base is better. Especially if you are shooting metallics. I painted for many many years and have 2 spray booths. I started out on boats back in the very 70's when we put the glitter on in like 20 or 30 coats. LOL. I look at those paint jobs these days and think they are ugly up close but look great from shore.
I have lots of materials I probably will never use if you need some. 5 gals each of 2 Reducers and catalyst in quarts never opened. My paints are nothing bigger than quarts.
I'm in Lincoln right now though so if you want that stuff you wil lhave to wait till I get back or help yourself in my shop. PM or call for directions on how to get in. Call would be best. You got the number.

That will give me some time to check my inventory to see what I can offer. I'm sure I have 5 gals of DT870 and maybe a few quarts of DTR reactive reducers in various hotness. I may have a gal or two of clear too.
When I was spraying metalics I liked the Imron metallics the best. The flakes are a bit larger and with better separation. That is not a base coat clear coat combo though which I like better also for protection and the ability to rub out dust, runs and touch up areas. I also am not a fan of the new Low VOC primers from Imron though and had issues when they first came out. I was using ovens though and had reps and engineers from Imron come to the shop and actually took some products of mine for testing that I never got back. HUMMMM I forgot all about that and now I'm all PO'd again. LOL.
PPG primer rocks and I frequently just cleared over it and used it as a base coat. That makes for one tough paint job!
