Nice. Hopefully you had a fullsize spare. That is the easiest way to fix the tire problems unless you have a CO2 tank. I have a great story of a bead pop off a rim in BFE.

Roland...If you haven't seen or done this, I posted a bunch of information and videos in the tech section awhile back on mounting tires using starting fluid and a match...

It works.....

Unfortunately in this case the Starter fluid method wouldn't do it. Where Randy's finger is in the pic is a 2 inch wide hole in the side of the tire. He hit a root and blew his tire out in an instant. You could hear it go 100 feet away.

That said......it does work awesome....

Weren't Pro Comps by any chance were they? Some of the other folks on the site have had some issues with the paper thin sidewalls on those. The Nittos I have have such thick sidewalls, they don't even start to flex until you get around 12 pounds....

No, they were BFG Mud Terrains actually. The one that Scoutman blew on Spring Creek was a Procomp though. I have to say I've been pretty happy with how my Trxus MT's have been holding up in that regard too. I have repeatedly rubbed them against rocks and such with no issues whatsoever. I'll definitely stick with Interco in the future, though next time I am thinking Bias Ply Iroks. Considering that the smallest they make those in are 36" (they do have smaller ones in Radials), I have some other stuff to do to my rig first though:).

superswamper i think make most of their tires with a 6ply minimum sidewall. mine are 8 ply, there are some that are 10 ply.

No worries, Randy...Interco makes some really badass tires that aren't known for crapping out..sidewalls or anything else...hence their good reputation and longevity...

i still want to go with a bias ply, they are tougher.

I like BFG A/T's and have never had an issue on any of them. The used 35's I picked up today are my 3rd set and never had any sidewall issues. Obviously a lot depends on how and where you take them.

Anyone seen the new Goodyear MTRs with Kevlar in the sidewall? I heard they were a tough tire in their last generation but now they added Kevlar and a different tread pattern too.

I have lost sidewalls on 2 BFG A/Ts in less than 20K miles and it looks like a third one is gonna go the next time I go wheeling.

When I bought these tires, I had never wheeled before and got the Load Range C tires. Load Range E are available in the same size and have stronger sidewalls, but the C's are very weak IMO.

Wow..I've put the BFG AT'S Through hell and been alright.. I don't remember what the rateing on my old ones were though.

They might have been Ds or Es. I am definitely getting Es next time.

Some info about Load Range here - http://www.dualport.com/bustech/load_tires.html

I'm running MTRs and I've had no problems so far with them. I want to get the new Kevlar MTRs. My tread is getting a little low. They did change the tread pattern, but I'm not sure if it's any better.

Here's a site talking about it.
