Making another run at running 35's after seeing these on Craigslist - set of 4 wheels w/ 35x12x15 BFG AT's. 2 good tires, 1 good for a spare and 1 bad one. Not bad for what i got them for. :D

time for the sawzall!!

Chris
June 9th, 2009, 03:55 PM
Probably, last time I had too much rubbing and didn't want to deal with it but it's wheeling season and a sawzall may be the solution. :D

I'll see how they fit tomorrow, hopefully they're fine with the spacers I already have on.

Yeah. My list in order is...

Sliders
Winch
Front D44 and Rear 8.8
Lockers
Long Arm 5ish inch lift
35s

There's a new stereo and speakers somewhere on that list but not sure where. Snorkel is in there too.

Nice lookin tires you got there Chris, How much did you get them for? I'd like to have 35s but I think I will end up with 37s when my Blazer is all built. I've got a friend who is gonna hook me up with them for a steal when I get the $$. Somehow I can get the 35s and the 37s for the same price, so that's a no Brainer. But I'd like to point out that 35s will fit on my truck with no lift and just about an inch of trimming.

There are plenty of fender-cuttin' people out here that would be more than happy to offer their input over a few brewskis I'm sure..

I know I'll be doing mine soon. I can't afford to cut a tire with my wheel wells I tore up inside on Saturday at Crystal Mountain.

Those rims look deep. Now comes the fun of finding the turn/flex limits and where/what you have to change

Chris
June 10th, 2009, 02:01 PM
No fitment or turning issues thanks to the spacers I already had. I'm not sure what's going to happen when I stuff them, or try to or how the suspect are up front is going to impede but I'll be finding out soon.

Added 2 new tires today so I'm ready to give them a try. Kudos to Big O for balancing them right. One had that green slime fix-a-flat stuff inside that made it impossible to balance w/o breaking it open and cleaning it up.

I think they need to be rattle canned.

A good result of doing Moody/Crystal. Barb asked what size tires someone was running and they told her 35's as did someone else. She said we should go up to 35's. ;)

Do you have neg offset on your rims? If so?? 3.25ish?

Chris
June 10th, 2009, 02:24 PM
I think it's closer to 4" vs stock Toyota 3.625 but didn't really measure. Eyeballed and decided they would fit. :erm:

maybe we should tell everyone all the mods to do in front of their wives or gf's... then we will all be hooked up with nice stuff!

Chris

I know aphillips76's wife asked how much lockers would be and I'm pretty sure Velorider's wife wouldn't deny the value of sliders after the run. ;)

Looks good Chris.. Since there was conversation about cutting fenders in this thread, I thought it would be appropriate to mention a great little pnumatic tool called a Nibbler that i had picked up for cutting out my fender wells. Even though it consumes a lot of air, the cuts are straighter, cleaner and more consistant than a sawzaw. FYI.

When we had our fender trimming party, we used diamond blades for the grinder.
It cuts nice and they were cheap at HF.

great tool name. Nibbler...

I read about the Nibbler on a "How to install flared fenders" website. Found it at amazon for $20.00 and i've carved out a dozen fenders with it. The cutting tip is very shallow, so the concern of puncturing radiators, reservoirs, wires, etc is impossible. I like it. :wrench: Anyways, i'm a little off subject but good stuff anyhow.

Nibblers are great, used one years ago and sure beats anything else for a nice quick clean cut.

I went over to Pete's today and we decided the tires may clear so decided not to trim the fenders. I did trim some of the valence since we raised the front bumper a couple inches. Always amazing how long a little thing like that can take. Thanks Pete!

Rattle can the wheels? Nope, I decided they're just too good looking to do that.

Chris
June 25th, 2009, 01:54 PM
It looks like I won't need to do any trimming. They shouldn't hit anywhere now after 3 main adjustments: 1. BFH to the inner fenderwell relocating it inwards a couple inches. 2. Dropped the bumpstops a bit. 3. trimmed the front of the sliders where they were hitting.

Ought to be good now. :D

Uh huh...and what was it that you said today after our little rock rail trimming?

"I think I am going to paint the wheels" He said with a grin....

Make sure that you hit them with some muriatic acid or vinegar before you paint them....

Chris

 Wishy-washy aren't I? They'll be painted, probably some day when I'm bored.
