Hello All,
I am going to be doing Wheeler Lake on August 1st. We will be heading up July 31st and staying on some land a friend of mine owns in Jefferson. He has a house up there and there is plenty of room for tents. (about 10 acres)
Everyone is welcome to pitch a tent and sit around the fire. We will do wheeler on sat and maybe Georgia pass. Could be a night run included in there somewhere as well. Just a weekend of fun.
meeting spot: Jefferson gas station.

you can do this open diffs with 31's, just need aproach and depart angles. Try a couple lines until you get through and you will be ok. Clearance of some kind is needed.
my truck did it with the easiest lines.

dont do the vnotch unless your ok with damage if you take a wrong line. spotters are a must on that if youve never been on it before.

There are are 2 other options besides the v-notch as I remember it. IIRC most of us did the left side even though the left before the notch is an easier line.

Mark, you can trust both Toadman26 and Trailrat99XJ as very good spotters among others that will be there. Here's a pic of Telly (bottom pic) coming down what I believe is the bypass of the hardest section. This is where you'd drive up.
First pic as another reference.

What about 31's?
Over the years I have taken bone stock Land Rovers and Jeeps up there just fine, it just takes a little longer. The Rover in the pic actually has smaller than stock tires by a little (so around 27" or so) and he made it just fine

So I had a thought...
We are going to be in a cabin that is east of jefferson. So it might be easier to meet in fairplay at the gas station on the corner of 285 and highway 9.We will be there early . (2 jeeps)
hope this works. Let me know.

Ran Wheeler a couple of weeks ago on the way back down to town from WFTW. We would love to do it again, but are going down to BV for the Toyota Jambo.
Have fun..the wildflowers are going to town...
