Just a one minute collection of scenes of Pathrat on Crystal lake trail and Georgia Pass. We ran into a really dug out muddy section about 1/10 of a mile from the divide. I thought it looked cool enough that I added a clip at normal speed and one in semi-slow motion.

I see that the passenger tire hit and sent me flying over to drivers side and there just wasn't enough time to correct. I used speed to power through the mud (yes, my mud tires do work) but maybe a little too much speed. I suspect I could have gone slower and backed out if need be, but it does make for a good video. Gotta shore up those sway bars and control arms, or not drive like a crazy woman. :D

Thanks for the video! Glad you guys had some fun!
Not a bad idea on the sway bars and control arms, either. Let me know if you want to do this and I will be happy to Brodify them for you!

It is on my list as soon as I get to start spending money on the rig again...which will be after school registration ($450 just at registration to go to public school) and senior portraits (what a money making racket that is!). Trust me, it is on the top half of the list!

You didn't break anything and you made it through, who could say anything negative about that....
The FJC looks good going through that little mud hole.:thunb:

i recall getting air on my rig from a bump hidden in snow on duck creek, ask pete, i got i think maybe 2-3 foot of air on my beast.... no problems. If i try that now ill bottom out with the extra weight on the front but that will be remedied with twin shox.

They have a front sway-bar disco for the FJC, but you have to add limit straps if you don't want to keep busting CVs, inner tie rods and UCAs.

I'll be doing Poughkeepsie Gulch (including the wall) with the yellow FJ in the pictures on the 17th, so will get to see how much of a difference the front sway bar discos make in person.

A-trac, this is actually the part I meant:

I heard there were sway bar disconnects available for the FJ but I had not put much thought into it as there are a lot of other things I need first. However, I DO like those pictures you posted, showing what can be done with the bars undone. Thanks

Oh ok. FortressOfTranquility had those welded on at a wrench-a-thon in the Springs last weekend.

Thanks for posting up the pictures. Any comment as to how easy, or not, they were to weld up?

I know there was a huge discussion about the material having to be heated before welding and such so it does not de-form, but I wasn't there so can't tell you exactly what they did.
Personally, I don't think you need to re-enforce them since your FJC looks pretty light up front. Eric (FortressOfTranquility) on the other hand has an ARB bumper (one of heaviest bumpers for the FJC), winch and his hi-lift on his ARB bumper.
But, if you do decide to weld, PM Eric or Jock (StickInTheMud). Jock was at the wrench-a-thon as well and should have more details.
Discussion about welding the Spindle Gussets is here - http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134542

Thanks for all the info A-TRAC, do appreciate it! :thunb:
I think the back end is going to get a bumper before the front end, but the eventuality exists of a front bumper and winch so this stuff is good to keep in mind. Thanks again.
