Middle St Vrain and Coney Flats - 7-12-2009

We did MSV and Coney Flats today and had a blast. I love water and mud and there was plenty of the former and some of the latter.

We started out with a bit of a snafu as we were going to start on Bunce School Road and then go to MSV and Coney Flats but we lost a couple of folks before we got to Bunce so we left that trail and found our folks at the MSV trailhead.

After that everything went exactly as you would plan. Charlie rode with a lady in a Geo Tracker which did better than I expected. She got high centered on a rock and bent the crap out of her bull bar but she made it over stuff I wouldn't have gone over in that car.

A few more pics for ya'll. I had a great time and got to test my new rig in some fun conditions. So far its coping with everything I'm throwing at it, so I'm pretty happy with that. Cool little trail with some really fun obstacles.

Don't know about fishing, but there are actually some camp sites on the MSV trail. Also there are some other camp sites not far that I know of in Allenspark. Real nice and secluded and usually not too busy.

This is where my favorite camping spot is. There are quite a few others too. If you hike a little, you can get to some excellent high mountain lakes for some entertaining fishing.
