Holy ****.
That's completely insane.
On a side note, anybody ever seen switches like this? They'd be handy.

I think they are just the standard PIAA switches.

PIAA is too rich for my wallet unfortunately.
Wish I could get my hands just on the switches!

That's cool for the gadget guy but I'll take this one over it any day.

i dont understand what the guy is wanting all the cameras for?? is he doing a how to wheel movie or something? does he not like mirrors or turning his head?
seems to me he is going to be watching himself wheel through the monitors more than paying attention to the road or trail... too much distraction

Amen Chris!!! I agree completely. I wouldn't go so far as to call the first one a "build up" but rather an "install". Its not like he is building anything or modifying the suspension overly. Lights and electronics are definitely a build up item, but not so sure they are on their own.
There are a couple of buildups over on Pirate that are pretty neat too. All Pro seems to have the FJ Cruiser SAS down to a science and there are some very very cool rigs that they have done. Here is my favorite....sorry for posting a competitors site up:erm:.

I can't find my favorite but it's a SAS on one of the expedition forums. Every time Barb suggests I get an FJ I tell it'll cost 50K+ to keep me happy. She then loves my truck again.

Me personally I think both are a little much, the first link I got to admit is cool having a camera to watch a couple of areas that you can't see when out on the trail. There's a post over in the blue room of him completely covering the windows and just using the cameras to drive. I actually exchanged a few PMs with him asking where and what he paid for the cameras, <-- me when I got the response of the price for one!
Sol's aka sbechtold rig (the SAS) is awesome, but he could have built something that would have done so much more. He could have built a full frame up crawler for a lot less than a base FJ. I guess if you got deep pockets it doesn't really matter, to me though I think it's a waste. Then again you got to wonder if he ever thought he would go in that direction when he bought it and just kind of ended up there as time went on.

i completely agree with you on both counts there. the first is just gadgets for the sake of having gadgets, and the second is proving that if you have enough money you can make anything into a crawler. and then to just turn around and try to sell it?!? sounds like more money than brains.
