I worked out a swap with Reese for some mods to his FJ and he brought it by yesterday.
I added some much needed bracing to the rear (stock factory) control arms and a 1/4" skid plate to the front mounts for the rear arms. The factory control arms are prone to bending under the stresses of wheeling and the front mounts for these are made of some thin metal that gets hammered due to the location.
I sleeved the bottom part of the control arms with 1/2 of a piece of square stock from the front end to the back, stiffening up the arms and adding additional metal to the parts that gets the most abuse. If you don't have or don't want to spend the money for a set of expensive and beefy aftermarket control arms, this is a good economical fix.
BTW, if anyone out there has a crack or rock ding in their windshield, by all means call Reese! He got bored and fixed the crack and a big rock ding in our Ford Escort while he was waiting for me to finish. Thanks, Reese, it looks great!
And, like me, can use all the work he can get!! Here is his contact/business information:
