Update: Meeting at 6:30 AM at King Soopers at the Northeast corner of 30th and Arapaho in Boulder. There's a Starbucks, bagel shop, and gas station all on the same corner. Leaving for the trail at 7 AM. See below for more details.

Looking to do a last-minute early-morning run in the Nederland/Estes area for Saturday 8/22. Would prefer not to wheel alone again. Meeting in Boulder or Longmont at 6 or 7am.
Thinking of Pennsylvania Gulch, Caribou, Gordon Gulch, Ironclads, or Pole Hill.
Will check back around 9pm tonight to see if anyone is interested.

I might go. Your departure time is a little early for me, but since you making the "run" you make the rules. I will check with my wife and get back with you.

I hate to miss a run in my neck of the woods, but I'll be at Pete's clinic, rebuilding the front axle on the 40. Next time, though...

Sounds like fairly easy trails, I think I can do em stock. If not let me know. I had planned on going to the mountains with a friend tomorrow, if I can get her to change plans and go with me in the morning I'll be there, just let me know when and where to meet!

Andy, Your rig is more then capable of doing any of those trails for sure.
Charles, have a good time, and thanks for posting your run. Even these last minute ones are worth doing so, as you can see from the responses you have gotten. I can't make it since I too am doing the clinic thing, and have some other work to do to get my rig ready for Spring Creek on Sunday. Have a great time and can't wait to hear the report.:D

I'll be in the blue Wrangler unlimited. CB channel 4.
Leaving for the trail at 7:00. If you need to reach me in the morning, call or text my cell at three-oh-three-seven-two-oh-nine-two-six-four.
Tentative plan is Pennsylvania Gulch and Caribou from the Eldora side but would be happy to adapt the plan depending on who shows up. E.g., full-size is probably a bad idea on Pennsylvania Gulch (pretty tight trees in a few places), but I'd rather wheel with someone (and alter my plans to accommodate them) than wheel alone.
I'll be there at 6:30, and I'll check this thread again at 6AM tomorrow.

You could handle all of them, but keep in mind that Ironclads has some tight squeezes (I creased one of my suicide doors on a tree near the top of Ironclads last summer) and Pennsylvania Gulch is extremely tight and tippy, with some low-hanging branches at the upper end. Don't try to run Penn Gulch downhill. (I did it solo downhill and go lucky. Ran into a rig heading up just as I got to the end.) There's no passing anywhere and uphill has the right of way.
You wouldn't have any trouble at all with Pole Hill. Haven't done Gordon Gulch or Caribou yet.

I hate to miss it, but the meeting time is too early for me. I've had a long couple of weeks.

Understood. I'll still be at the King Soopers from 6:30-7:00 in case anyone else happens to show. Then I'll probably run something a little easier if I end up alone.
