View Full Version : Watch Whose Doorbell You Ring At Night

So we have been having some issues with the neighbors across the street. They live behind the fence on the undeveloped side of the street from us.

Long story short, the man who owns the house and property on the other side of the fence came over a couple of weeks ago and threatened LaDawn after I had left the house. We reported this incident to the police. I also told LaDawn that if he came to the door again to a) call the police and b) answer the door with the 12 gauge in her hand in that order.

Anyway, last night after I had gone to bed, the doorbell rings. I get up, get dressed and answer the door, gun in hand. The lights were out and it was obvious that people were sleeping or not at home. No one was there. 5 minutes later the same thing happens. There were also some noises coming from under the bedroom window. This time, I step into the dark room off the entrance and see someone run from behind the neighbor's house right next to us across the street and over the fence into this other property.

I grab the 12 gauge, go out the back door and around to the front of the house and tuck myself into a bush by the front door. Woops...maybe this is just what they want me to do...Back into the back door, round in chamber and do a thorough search of the house, prepared to at least do a tourniquet wound(blow off an arm or leg) if I find anyone in the house. OK, no one in the house. Clear chamber, back to the front, climbing over the side of the porch and then tucking myself into the shadow by the front door.

After about a 10 minute wait, here comes someone running up to my front door from directly across the street. I wait until they are on the step and step out of the shadow, racking the gun, a rather distinctive sound. Turns out it was one of the kids from across the street, about 14 years old. Stopped him in his tracks.

Said "Exactly how much fun are you willing to have ringing doorbells at night? This is a 12 gauge shotgun. You are trespassing on my property. Now get the **** off of it." I think he peed himself. If he had been older, he would have ended up face down and zip tied while I called the cops...Made me smile...:D I guess I should have one of those "Does not play well with others" shirts..

Turns out that they had been doing this to all of my neighbors, banging on garage doors and windows in the whole neighborhood. Since we reported the first incident, we are also going to report this one, sans shotgun, of course..

People are really stupid, but I don't think we will have any more night trouble at my particular house..Staring down a 12 gauge from 2' away is somewhat of a deterrent...

Bunch of BS, starting with "If you want problems, you are going to get problems..." The guy is about 6'4" and 240. LaDawn is 5'3" if she bounces.
I told her to stuff the shotgun up his nose or under his jaw if he did it again.

All reported to the police all nicey, nicey. Matter of record if things get upside down.

"a crazed man with shotgun pointed at my face."

Actually just a guy stepping out of the shadows with a pump 12 who never raised his voice. Much worse, I think...

Ahhhhh....yes, but you see I am trying to hold the line without getting into felony menacing or actual assault. That is one of the reasons I merely stated that "This is a 12 gauge shotgun" rather "stop or you're dead, or stop or I'll blow your head off", etc. I was merely making a statement...HEHE...fine line..so he interrupted me in the middle of my cleaning the shotgun HEHE and I simply forgot to put it down when I went to the door...woops all to hell...yessiree...

They do have some rather harsh laws about bear traps on your front steps...

And you'll be the baddest guy on the block.

Actually I prefer lethal loads in my weapons and am partial to things like the ASP and a few knives if I am not using a gun. I could always hit someone in the head with a non lethal load and then zip tie 'em, but if they are in my house, I prefer to have them deal every day with the loss of an arm, hand, foot or leg rather than have them forget due to a brain injury.

I really don't want to be the baddest guy on the block. I simply do not wish to be ****ed with.

Yes indeed. Depending on what mood I am in, I either have the first round in the 12 loaded with 10 dimes, a sabot slug, or 00 partially emptied with a 3/8" ball bearing in front of the 00 or just a mix and match of the above. None of them really nice rounds...and all of them guaranteed to get someone's attention, but not necessarily hold it:D

Yes it is. I sold a Bushmaster that was tricked out. Sad to see it go, but I was broke. Still like the 12 gauge for home protection. Nothing like the sound of a pump being racked and the fact that the load of dimes or the 3/8" ball on 00 pretty much take out a door at 8'. Aiming not required and my eyes are getting worse as I get older.

I think he peed himself.

Heck, I almost peed myself reading the story!

I guess I should have one of those "Does not play well with others" shirts.

You play well with others, Pete. But you should get a shirt that says "Does not play well with boneheads."
