Thinking about selling our home on the range in Elizabeth and moving into town. Were do you guys live that is "off-road enthusiast" friendly. You know where the HOA is easygoing. And you can weld in your garage with out the neighbors calling the cops (been there), maybe even some were that you could build a shop on the property.
My wife works at DIA, so need to be a reasonable drive from there. And good school system, safe neighborhood ect.

I know Scoutman lives near Buckley AFB, and no one has hassled us about working on his Scout there. We've uninstalled/reinstalled the tranny twice in his driveway, and done welding and such there too. Nice location, as long as you don't mind the occasional f-16 flyover. Chris lives near there too I think. Its all Aurora, and there are good and bad parts of it for sure.
Not sure whats closer to DIA, but you can probably find something a bit more secluded, with some more space to do stuff the closer you get to it. If you want to live in town though, the nicer parts of Aurora are hard to beat.

I can do whatever I want but suspect that's because I have good neighbors. I would wager some people living here would object but the HOA doesn't have any rules against working on vehicles. It's patio homes so reallu no yard to build anything but the garages are nice and large.
The F-16 flyovers are among the reason I like living here!
Don't rule out Aurora based on the bad stuff you hear. ;)

Find a place that doesn't have an HOA. Too many rules and regs. Maybe I'm a lone voice in the wilderness these days.
This is a nice area, but likely too far north for you. Southwest Weld County?

I am in Westminster and can pretty much do want I want with in the limits of the law and we do not have an HOA in our housing development but the one down the street does and it doesn't effect us one bit. And yes good neighbors makes a difference with doing all the fab work I do.

I would suggest where I am at, can't get any closer to DIA, I am in Reunion 104th and Tower. Only problem I can see is building a shop on the property as the lots aren't all that big. HOA fees are $47 quaterly, but the property taxes suck. There's some surrounding sub-divisions that are nice out here that don't have the property taxes we do. If your interested there's a couple brand new homes for sale right behind me, let me know.
For larger lots that offer room to build there's some nice places up in Brighton, South of Bromley Lane on Sable Blvd. Not sure about the prices though, kind of a farming community, but still close enough to DIA.

If you like hippies and weird people with too much money, you can come join me in Boulder!

Haha, no I have long hair but I have major redneck tendencies, plus I have way too much debt to be considered rich. I love the schools and neighborhood here though! Plus I love all the Boulder comments people make, most of them I find funny because they usually have some truth to them.

As an "old hippie" we looked at Boulder when we moved to CO based on fine memories from the early 70's. Trouble was we couldn't find the Boulder of the 70's, instead found everything we hated about neighborhoods.

Naw...no need. Anyone with long hair and red neck tendencies probably can take 'Boulderite' digs and shrug it off with a grin!
I lived there for about 6 months due to some unfortunate circumstances back in the late 80s. I think I hit more people during that 6 month period than I had hit in the previous 6 years...mainly the all too aggressive street pan handlers who didn't understand "Get the **** out of my way"...and were either too stoned or stupid or both to understand that some people really mean it...
I was glad to finally be able to leave. People there seem to want to cultivate the "Oh...I am just sooooo into things!" attitude, but all they seem to be into is simply themselves....Sure wasn't like it was in the 70s...

try up north where I am at. todd creek, just outside brighton. all the lots are 1-5 acres so you can have room for that extra garage. and as for the commute to the airport, I can be there in about 15 minutes from here.
