I have a question: Where did everyone meet last time there was a CORE run?

I am almost thinking about just meeting up there, as there are many ways to get there from North, South, etc.

there is plenty of room to meet at the front sign in spot at core. Yes you can get off on the frontage road either north or south of it. ANd i think it is more the the stated 50 miles to get there. But fun!

Anyone know the CORE dog policy?
Think of CORE as a huge offroad racetrack where you can go pretty much anywhere. Do you want your dogs ran over? Bring a leash if you insist on bringing the dogs, and keep an eye on them ;)

Also, don't forget!!! EVERYBODY needs to sign a waiver there. Carl is pretty laid back about enforcing it sometimes, but he needs those signatures from everybody (passengers included) to keep his insurance and to keep the property open to public. There's a big trailer past the mud pit, that's where he usually keeps them.

Somebody might want to send him an email that this is being planned, so he knows about it. We wouldn't want to show up there and find the gate locked :thunb:

Smash

Well, I'm gonna have to see if I can make it now with no cash flow... Gotta change out the transmission on the Bug (got one) plus clean it up a little. It's been sitting outside for a while and is getting some surface rust on the pan (around the pedals). I need to see if I can find some garage space to work on it too (and store it til I sell it). I would really like to get it ready for a VIN inspection so I can get a title and sell it (after CORE).

I'm getting my Baja home tomorrow and gonna start working on it. I've got a phone call about it today, possible buyer, so if I get it sold, I might have to back out of CORE. We'll see. Chances are he might not want it after he finds out I have no title (or will try to low ball me) :D The plan is to get it ready for CORE, and then it will get a "street make-over" so I can get it inspected and titled and hopefully sold :thunb:

Well, the Baja is sitting in my garage, the guy came to look at it and he liked. Didn't mind the no papers thing as he said he wanted an offroad racing toy that wasn't necessarily street legal (rail, Baja, etc). Said he'd think about it and call me back in a few days (i've told him i was planning on changing the trans on Thursday). So, fingers crossed, might be getting rid of it before CORE. I wouldn't mind as that would help us eliminate our last credit card, but at the same time, the Baja is growing onto me again :o

REI mountain 3 tent. Scored it as a present from my entire family (immediate and extended) 2 years ago. It has yet to let me down, but is showing signs of wear. We use it heavily year round because of it's size. My other tent is a VERY used 3 season 2 person REI backpacking tent. Not enough space now that the dogs have decided they like to sleep in the tent with us... Anyways, best 4 season mountain tent out there for your $ IMO.

I was under the impression that CORE closed when the weather got bad. I know that the last couple of years CORE closed during the winter. Someone probably needs to call if that hasn't already been done as I was online just now and couldn't find any information at all as to whether they were actually open or not.

Has anyone double checked this?

Haha yeah, evidently I can't cuss on here. No problem, *'s work!!

It seems so strange that he closes for teh whole winter, you'd think he'd just close if the snow got really deep. Duh. Talk about lost revenue. Oh well.

I have no idea where else to go. I might hold off until the snow melts, just use the rig for camping! Seems like a bad idea for an inexperienced driver to take their new rig out for the first time in ice and snow on trails. I liked CORE cause it was a more controlled environment.

I like CORE because I can take my un-documented Baja out there :o Maybe if we get a solid number of people wanting to go we could make it worth his time? Btw, I have not gotten a reply from Carl to my earlier email. Maybe somebody else could try calling him or emailing him? I can see why he closes for the winter though. East I-70 gets closed quite regularly during the cold months and I think he lives south of Denver. But if it's supposed to be a nice day maybe he could make an exception for a big group (and make some $$)?

Probably so. There are quite a few trails as alternatives, but they would need a different title/heading.

Slaughterhouse, Duck Creek, Chinawall, Probably most low altitude stuff in the BV area, and LeftHand Canyon are just a few that are open and can be run, but a low clearance rig would not do very well.

Some other suggestions would be welcome.

Karla and I are gonna pick up Greenmachine at the meet up spot. :thunb:

Contemplating bringing the dogs, figure if it's just us we can let them off leash? If discussed with the owner of course. Not sure, will probably decide that morning.

??

My dogs do AWESOME with kids, I've used both of them for humane/animal shelter education in public schools in fort collins and loveland.

Is that what you meant?

Subacool - do you have good contact info for the owner? Since you got him to open, want to give him a call tomorrow to confirm?

This is how I got hold of him (and how anybody can too): http://www.coloradooffroadextreme.com/forum1/

The post regarding the 12th: http://www.coloradooffroadextreme.com/forum1/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=55 As far as I know, it's on. He's good about updating the website.

I'm guessing Carl Miron is the owner but since I'm not registered I can't contact him. Someone (SubaCool?) who is should confirm. It would be a shame to drive out there and find it closed.

I'd love to go, but my ranger is stuck in 2wd unless i take off the electric shift motor and shift it by hand. Would there be anything i could do out there in a 1991 Ranger? its all stock with a 4.0l v6 3.73 with a limited slip in the rear.

Bring it! I'm hoping my friend will bring his big heavy duty stock dodge diesel. 4 doors, that's a long wheelbase! Subacool is bringing his beetle dune buggy thing too.

Hey Chris.... High 44....
