Everyone have a place to eat? Or are some folks working? We likely have extra seats at the "table". Mom cooks for an army of 30. ;)

Incredible of you to offer.

I love this forum.

Karla and I are planning to head to Albuquerque tomorrow night or Wednesday morning to spend the weekend with my parents.

Thanks for the offer. We're doing our usual beer-can Cornish game hens for two.

Thus far my mom is having 2 turkeys smoked, and I believe she is baking one as well. 3 birds=40+pounds for 12 or so people. There WILL be leftovers... ;)

It's easy. I'm happy to give it to anyone. You can find it online, too, with a quick Google search. Thaw the hen and wash it off well. Rub it down with olive oil. Rub some salt and pepper (and any other spices you like with your poultry; I'm partial to garlic) onto the skin. Open a 12-ounce can of beer, then drink half of it. Stretch the bird over the can so the legs reach the bottom. Crank up the gas grill and balance the can on the grill, in the center. Close the cover and let it cook for about 45 minutes. Keep an eye on it and maybe rotate the can once or twice. When it's done, pull it off the can with some tongs and enjoy the feast. :thunb:

You'll get the best-tasting game hens you've ever eaten. Guaranteed.

I don't have a grill, but sounds like that'd work great over a campfire. A few trip back I did a whole (small) chicken in the coals stuffed with all kinds of good stuff under the skin.... I had a few people drive by (we were off a spur of a trail near kingston) just to see what the smell was... *drooooling.

I'll have to give yours a try!

I have a portable propane BBQ if you want to borrow it and give it a whirl. Will need a mini-tank or so of fuel.

Eh, I considered picking up a propane for free off of CL, not sure I'd use it enough and I really don't have space for it! Really tiny courtyard at my place. :( I think I'll test next time we go camping, thanks!!

Sorry for the hijack, Jeff.

I don't know how it'll work on a campfire. It works best if the bird's covered. Maybe you could rig a tinfoil tent over them.
